Este livro é o resultado de um trabalho de pesquisa doutoral e concentra-se no desenvolvimento de estratégias que auxiliem os pilotos no controle de braços robóticos, que são frequentemente encontrados nos veículos submersíveis operados remotamente, ou ROVs. Primeiramente, são abordados os problemas próprios da manipulação submarina como o ambiente cambiante e imagens visuais em telas. Em consequência, duas recentes tecnologias são abordadas: a Realidade Aumentada (AR) e geração de rotas livres de colisões. Com AR é possível acrescentar informações visuais aos pilotos e simultaneamente dotar de informações numéricas as estratégias de geração de rotas livres de colisões para antecipar quais movimentos dos manipuladores serão promissórios na execução de uma tarefa. O texto, além de fornecer formulações e equações da mecânica robótica, mostra como fazer a integração com as áreas da algoritmia em um caso de estudo real; isso é possível com o concepto de Human-In-The-Loop ou HITL, em que o humano pode colaborar com os sistemas inteligentes artificiais.
