Movies will never be the same after you learn how to analyze movie data, including key data mining, text mining and social network analytics concepts. These techniques may then be used in endless other contexts. In the movie application, this topic opens a lively discussion on the current developments in big data from a data science perspective. This book is geared to applied researchers and practitioners and is meant to be practical. The reader will take a hands-on approach, running text mining and social network analyses with software packages covered in the book. These include R, SAS, Knime, Pajek and Gephi. The nitty-gritty of how to build datasets needed for the various analyses will be discussed as well. This includes how to extract suitable Twitter data and create a co-starring network from the IMDB database given memory constraints. The authors also guide the reader through an analysis of movie attendance data via a realistic dataset from France.

Xml Data Warehousing written by Nuwee Wiwatwattana and has been published by VDM Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Computers categories.

Data warehousing is an important application of database technology. Even though XML is ubiquitous and there are many XML databases, there are almost no XML data warehouses today. When the information to be represented naturally has multiple dimensions, as in data warehouses, fundamental tensions appear in the modeling and schema design. This book propose an evolutionary extension of the XML data model into a multi-dimensional model, called the Multi-Colored Trees (MCT) logical data model. MCT permits trees with multi-colored nodes to signify participation in multiple dimensions. Algorithms are developed to transform design specifications given as ER diagrams into MCT schemas. Bitmap join indices are extended to the XML context. This book demonstrates experimentally the benefit for typical queries, including those with low cardinality or high selectivity. The book also considers the data cube, and shows that it cannot readily be expressed or evaluated for XML data. Specifically, XML data is not always summarizable because of missing and repeated sub-elements.

With detailed discussion of their performances and Awards night results, this book describes how 108 actors earned the Academy’s favor—and how 129 others were overlooked.

Humanizing Big Data written by Colin Strong and has been published by Kogan Page Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-03-03 with Business & Economics categories.

Big data raises more questions than it answers, particularly for those organizations struggling to deal with what has become an overwhelming deluge of data. It can offer marketers more than simple tactical predictive analytics, but organizations need a bigger picture, one that generates some real insight into human behaviour, to drive consumer strategy rather than just better targeting techniques. Humanizing Big Data guides marketing managers, brand managers, strategists and senior executives on how to use big data strategically to redefine customer relationships for better customer engagement and an improved bottom line. Humanizing Big Data provides a detailed understanding of the way to approach and think about the challenges and opportunities of big data, enabling any brand to realize the value of their current and future data assets. First it explores the 'nuts and bolts' of data analytics and the way in which the current big data agenda is in danger of losing credibility by paying insufficient attention to what are often fundamental tenets in any form of analysis. Next it sets out a manifesto for a smart data approach, drawing on an intelligent and big picture view of data analytics that addresses the strategic business challenges that businesses face. Finally it explores the way in which datafication is changing the nature of the relationship between brands and consumers and why this calls for new forms of analytics to support rapidly emerging new business models. After reading this book, any brand should be in a position to make a step change in the value they derive from their data assets.
