Multi Stage Feedback Control Design For Multi Time Scale System written by Ravindra Munje and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-08-23 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book presents multi-stage feedback control designs for the system with multi-time-scale behaviour both in the continuous time domain and discrete-time domain. Multi-time-scale systems have widely separated clusters of eigenvalues, making the system matrices ill-conditioned. Due to this the direct design of a feedback controller and reduced- or full-order observers for such systems is a challenging task. Hence, the feedback controllers and observers are designed in multiple design stages, i.e. two-stage design for the two-time-scale system and three-stage design for the three-time-scale system. In this book, multi-stage feedback controller and observer designs are proposed for the three-time-scale system to reduce offline and online computational efforts. The applicability of these methods is demonstrated by simulating practical systems like a coal-fired power plant and a nuclear power plant. This book also discusses the design of multi-stage feedback controllers in discrete time. The design of state feedback control for a multi-time-scale system with a lower sampling rate fails to capture information in the fastest (very fast) and fast states. While sampling at a higher rate increases computation time. Thus, the use of single-rate sampling for such systems is unsuitable. Therefore, multi-rate state feedback controllers are designed for the multi-time-scale system, in which slow, fast, and very fast states are sampled at different sampling rates. As slow, fast and very fast states are the decoupled and internal states of the original system, these are estimated by the sequential multi-stage observers. Applications of these multirate designs to the numerical examples are demonstrated and simulations are compared with single-rate sampling methods. The methods suggested in this book result in considerable savings in online and offline computations, reduction in design complexity, and improvement in robustness and closed-loop performance. This book can be beneficial to mathematicians, scientists, researchers and practicing engineers working in this area.

Multi Stage And Multi Time Scale Feedback Control Of Linear Systems With Applications To Fuel Cells written by Verica Radisavljević-Gajić and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-02-12 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book provides a comprehensive study of multi-stage and multi-time scale design of feedback controllers for linear dynamic systems. It examines different types of controllers as can be designed for different parts of the system (subsystems) using corresponding feedback gains obtained by performing calculations (design) only with subsystem (reduced-order) matrices. The advantages of the multi-stage/multi-time scale design are presented and conditions for implementation of these controllers are established. Complete derivations and corresponding design techniques are presented for two-stage/two-time-scale, three-stage/three-time scale, and four-stage/four-time-scale systems. The techniques developed have potential applications to a large number of real physical systems. The design techniques are demonstrated on examples of mathematical models of fuel cells, especially the proton exchange membrane fuel cell.

During the past decade model predictive control (MPC), also referred to as receding horizon control or moving horizon control, has become the preferred control strategy for quite a number of industrial processes. There have been many significant advances in this area over the past years, one of the most important ones being its extension to nonlinear systems. This book gives an up-to-date assessment of the current state of the art in the new field of nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC). The main topic areas that appear to be of central importance for NMPC are covered, namely receding horizon control theory, modeling for NMPC, computational aspects of on-line optimization and application issues. The book consists of selected papers presented at the International Symposium on Nonlinear Model Predictive Control – Assessment and Future Directions, which took place from June 3 to 5, 1998, in Ascona, Switzerland. The book is geared towards researchers and practitioners in the area of control engineering and control theory. It is also suited for postgraduate students as the book contains several overview articles that give a tutorial introduction into the various aspects of nonlinear model predictive control, including systems theory, computations, modeling and applications.

Parallel Algorithms for Optimal Control of Large Scale Linear Systems is a comprehensive presentation for both linear and bilinear systems. The parallel algorithms presented in this book are applicable to a wider class of practical systems than those served by traditional methods for large scale singularly perturbed and weakly coupled systems based on the power-series expansion methods. It is intended for scientists and advance graduate students in electrical engineering and computer science who deal with parallel algorithms and control systems, especially large scale systems. The material presented is both comprehensive and unique.

More and more digital devices are being used for informa tion processing and control purposes in a variety of systems applications, including industrial processes, power networks, biological systems and communication networks. This trend has been helped by the advent of microprocessors and the consequent availability of cheap distributed computing power. For those applications, where digital devices are used, it is reasonable to model the system in discrete-time. In addition there are other application areas, e.g. econometric systems, business systems, certain command and control systems, environmental systems, where the underlying models are in discrete-time and here discrete-time approaches to analysis and control are the most appropriate. In order to deal with these two situations, there has been a lot of interest in developing techLiques which allow us to do analysis, design and control of discrete-time systems. This book provides a comprehensive treatment of discrete time dynamical systems. It covers the topics of modelling, optimization techniques and control design. The book is designed to serve as a text for teaching at the first year graduate level. The material included is organized into eight chapters.
