Multidimensional Inequalities is a deep dive into the historical contexts and contemporary realities that negatively influence society and its structures. It is often overlooked that inequality is not just about income and wealth but rather a broad spectrum of intersecting factors. This book focuses on each aspect individually, analysing its effect on welfare systems, and informs about the instruments available to reduce inequality.

Since from more than a century, the study of various types of integral equations and inequalities has been focus of great attention by many researchers, interested both in theory and its applications. In particular, there exists a very rich literature related to the integral equations and inequalities and their applications. The present monograph is an attempt to organize recent progress related to the Multidimensional integral equations and inequalities, which we hope will widen the scope of their new applications. The field to be covered is extremely wide and it is nearly impossible to treat all of them here. The material included in the monograph is recent and hard to find in other books. It is accessible to any reader with reasonable background in real analysis and acquaintance with its related areas. All results are presented in an elementary way and the book could also serve as a textbook for an advanced graduate course. The book deserves a warm welcome to those who wish to learn the subject and it will also be most valuable as a source of reference in the field. It will be an invaluable reading for mathematicians, physicists and engineers and also for graduate students, scientists and scholars wishing to keep abreast of this important area of research.

Persistence And Emergencies Of Inequalities In Latin America written by Pablo Vommaro and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-02-21 with Social Science categories.

This book adopts a multidimensional approach to analyze both the historical and emerging factors that contribute to make Latin America and the Caribbean the most unequal region in the world. Social inequality is a historical characteristic of the region, but at the beginning of the 21st century, a handful of progressive governments seemed to be adopting policies that could reduce this historical trend. Many of these efforts, however, were blocked or reversed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which both exposed the persistence of historical trends and contributed to the emergency of new forms of inequality in the region. The different chapters in this contributed volume adopt a multidimensional, intersectional, perspective to analyze both the persistence and the emergency of social devices of production and reproduction of inequalities in the diverse Latin American and Caribbean temporal spatialities. The issues analyzed in the different chapters revolve around four main axes: a) persistence of generational and intergenerational inequalities; b) structural gender inequality; c) intertwined social inequalities: race, class and social structure and; c) historical and economic dimension of inequality. Persistence and Emergencies of Inequalities in Latin America: A Multidimensional Approach will be of interest to researchers interested in the study of social inequality and social justice in different fields of the human and social sciences, such as sociology, political science, history, economics, anthropology and education. It will also be a valuable tool for policy makers and social activists engaged in the discussion, advocacy and implementation of public policies aimed at reducing social inequalities.

This report summarises some of the most relevant theoretical and empirical challenges associated with the measurement and analysis of multidimensional inequalities. Each section delves into a specific topic, presents a state-of-the-art review of the key findings in that particular area, and proposes a number of policy recommendations and avenues for further research. The themes covered in this report range from the multidimensional nature of human wellbeing and quality of life, the multiplicity of life domains in which substantial inequalities can be found, the dynamic nature of those inequalities, the transmission of advantages and disadvantages over time, the availability of new data sources for fine-grained data collection and higher spatial resolution policy-making, the interplay of individual effort and external circumstances when it comes to identifying a just distribution of opportunities in society, as well as the relevance of lifetime approaches for the study of economic inequalities within countries. The content of this work will provide help and guidance to policy-makers willing to understand and tackle inequalities from a broader multidimensional perspective, beyond the narrow limits of economic indicators alone.

This report summarises the findings of a pilot research project to develop a Multidimensional Inequality Monitoring Framework for the EU (EU MIMF), undertaken by the Joint Research Centre at the request of the European Parliament. The EU MIMF is intended to play a role as a first, but comprehensive, attempt to establish a 'common language' and a common framework for monitoring and analysing inequalities in the EU. The EU MIMF will also help broaden and deepen the scope of frameworks monitoring progress towards a more cohesive and social Europe, such as the Social Scoreboard for the European Pillar of Social Rights. The basic premise underpinning this report is that inequality is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon. Therefore, we draw on five different methodological approaches to study inequalities across 10 key dimensions of human well-being. In addition to defining and computing relevant inequality metrics at country level, we have developed and implemented a double-sorting algorithm that allows us: (i) to rank countries according to their performance in any subset of inequality indicators, and (ii) to identify in which of the areas covered by these indicators the countries struggle - or find it easier - to make progress in their efforts to tackle inequalities. The report also includes a section that explores the econometric analysis of possible causes and effects of inequalities in the EU. Finally, the last two chapters make use of high-quality administrative data sets to calculate more granular (i.e. sub-national) inequality indicators in selected EU countries.

This book proposes an interdisciplinary and multidimensional perspective of urban inequalities based on a range of theoretical, methodological, and professional approaches. Chapters consider different types of inequalities: in health, education, age, housing, energy, space, civic rights, social exclusion, ethnicity, poverty, segregation, work status, nutrition, public policies, democracy, human rights, technology, digital learning, subjective well-being, environment, and climate change. Contributions analyze the situation of different groups: children, youth, and indigenous people. The book highlights the importance of policy-making to overcome inequalities and addresses the key role of citizen participation.

In 1934, G. H. Hardy et al. published a famous book entitled “Inequalities”, in which a theory about Hardy-Hilbert-type inequalities with the general homogeneous kernels of degree-1 and the best possible constant factors was built by introducing one pair of conjugate exponents. In January 2009, for generalized theory of Hardy-Hilbert-type inequalities, a book entitled “The Norm of Operator and Hilbert-Type Inequalities” (by Bicheng Yang) was published by Science Press of China, which considered the theory of Hilbert-type inequalities and operators with the homogeneous kernels of degree negative numbers and the best possible constant factors, by introducing two pairs of conjugate exponents and a few independent parameters. In October 2009 and January 2011, two books entitled “Hilbert-Type Integral Inequalities” and “Discrete Hilbert-Type Inequalities” (by Bicheng Yang) were published by Bentham Science Publishers Ltd., which considered mainly Hilbert-type integral and discrete inequalities with the homogeneous kernels of degree real numbers and applications. In 2012, a book entitled “Nonlinear Analysis: Stability, Approximation, and Inequality” was published by Springer, which contained Chapter 42 entitled “Hilbert-Type Operator: Norms and Inequalities” (by Bicheng Yang). In this chapter, the author defined a general Yang-Hilbert-type integral operator and studied six particular kinds of this operator with different measurable kernels in several normed spaces. In 2014, a book entitled “Half-Discrete Hilbert-Type Inequalities” was published in World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd. (in Singapore), in which, the authors Bicheng Yang and L. Debnath considered some kinds of half-discrete Yang-Hilbert-type inequalities and their applications. In a word, the theory of Hilbert-type integral, discrete and half- discrete inequalities is almost built by Bicheng Yang et al. in the above stated books.
