European Multiculturalism Revisited analyses the alleged crises of the main ‘models’ of multicultural societies experienced by Europe since the end of World War II, based on research conducted by local scholars in the UK, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, France and Germany. Each chapter provides an historical account of how the model developed and was implemented in the country in question, followed by an in-depth analysis of the factors that have led to the claim that the model has failed. The questions being, Did it actually fail? And if it failed was it because of some intrinsic weaknesses or external circumstances? This volume is a groundbreaking contribution to a topic of vital contemporary importance.

Multikulturalismus Revisited written by Eduard Kaeser and has been published by Schwabe Verlag (Basel) this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-09-01 with Literary Collections categories.

Doch was ist eigentlich Multikulturalismus?

Civic Multiculturalism In Singapore written by Terri-Anne Teo and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-06-05 with Social Science categories.

This book is about multiculturalism, broadly defined as the recognition, respect and accommodation of cultural differences. Teo proposes a framework of multicultural denizenship that includes group-specific rights and intercultural dialogue, by problematising three issues: a) the unacknowledged misrecognition of non-citizens within the scholarship of multiculturalism; b) uncritical treatment of citizens and non-citizens as binary categories and; c) problematic parcelling of group-specific rights with citizenship rights. Drawing on the case of Singapore as an illustrative example, where temporary labour migrants are culturally stereotyped, socioeconomically disenfranchised and denied access to rights accorded only to citizens, Teo argues that understandings of multiculturalism need to be expanded and adjusted to include a fluidity of identities, spectrum of rights and shared experiences of marginalisation among citizens and non-citizens. Civic Multiculturalism in Singapore will be of interest to students and scholars of multiculturalism, critical citizenship studies, migration studies, political theory and postcolonial studies.

Hauptbeschreibung Linguistic autonomy, assured internationally to ethnic minorities, has succeeded, above all, in Europe, yet is nowhere near passing its acid test in other parts of the world. Examples show that it is not only a question of linguistic autonomy, but of ethnic and religious conflicts, which are simmering in the foreground. Hence, there are reasons for doubting whether international agreements designed to guarantee linguistic autonomy can solve these conflicts. The protection of indigenous languages is justified largely by the principle of diversity and is de.

Ethnic Diversity And The Nation State written by David J. Smith and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-05-23 with Political Science categories.

This book explores a largely forgotten legacy of multicultural political thought and practice from within Eastern Europe and examines its relevance to post-Cold War debates on state and nationhood. Featuring a Preface by former UK Home Secretary Charles Clarke, it weaves theory and practice to challenge established understandings of the nation state. Eastern Europe is still too often viewed through the prism of ethnic conflict, which overlooks the region’s positive contribution to modern debates on the political management of ethno-cultural diversity, and towards the construction of a united Europe ‘beyond the nation-state’. Based on extensive archival research in Estonia, Latvia, Germany, Russia, as well as the League of Nations Archive in Geneva, this book explores this neglected multicultural legacy and assesses its significance in the post-Cold War era, which has seen the reappearance of national cultural autonomy laws in several states of Eastern Europe. Ethnic Diversity and the Nation State is invaluable reading for students and scholars of political science, history, sociology and European studies, and also for policy makers and others interested in minority rights and ethnic conflict regulation.

Cross Cultural Management Revisited written by Jean-Pierre Segal and has been published by Oxford University Press, USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-02-27 with Business & Economics categories.

Drawing on thirty years of empirical research, this book reveals the diversity of managerial practices that may be observed throughout the world, even in places where companies are using management methods that appear identical. Using data from over fifty countries, it presents a new theoretical approach to cultural diversity whereby culture is considered a filter through which people understand reality and give it meaning. This interpretative perspective reminds us that interactions within organizational contexts are primarily social, and thus conceived differently from one culture to another. This is fundamental to our understanding of the challenges of globalization and the powerful forces that foster the international homogenization of management practices. Leadership, decision-making, customer relations, ethics and corporate social responsibility, and interpersonal and corporate communication are just some aspects of management underpinned and influenced by cultural variation. In response to this intellectual and practical challenge this book provides methodological guidelines to enable researchers and practitioners to engage in an alternative approach to cross-cultural management.
