The Temple University Studies on Music Therapy Education are the results of a two-year research investigation supported by Temple University. The research investigation had several goals with respect to music therapy education and training: to examine existing academic and clinical training requirements; to survey current methods of teaching and supervision; to identify contemporary problems, issues, and trends; to propose directions for the future; and to provide a set of readings for use in training music therapy teachers and supervisors. These goals were accomplished through several projects, including an analysis of college catalogs and internship manuals, a national survey of educators, clinicians, and supervisors, and the indexing of master's thesis research. This book is about the results of a national survey of over 1,100 music therapists.
