She loves her deaf community, that she's bilingual, and that she experiences the world differently from hearing people. In this book, Ava welcomes her hearing peers to her daily life, the way technology helps her navigate the world and explains common misconceptions about deaf people - and introduces some of her deaf heroes who have achieved amazing things. She demonstrates that building healthy relationships starts from the inside out and calls for a “back to basics” of love and life that have become lost in a culture driven by electronic communication and social media attachment. Experiencing conflict in relationships is an unavoidable fact of life. When our relationships are messed up, our lives feel messed up. Likewise, our hearts and minds hurt—the two are intricately linked. Drawing on over twenty-five years of clinical experience with individuals, couples, and families, psychotherapist Anita Astley will walk you through practical steps to unf*ck yourself from the inside out in order to establish healthy relationships. Her approach takes you back to the basics of love and life that have become lost in a culture consumed by electronic communication and social media attachment. Anita will help guide you through your journey of transformation by identifying various psychological dynamics that serve to do more harm than good to you and your relationships. In addition, she will provide tools to help you hone your communication skills through active listening and effective speaking as a means of working through conflict to arrive at solutions. These practices have helped countless patients and have proven to be effective for Anita personally. In this book, she shares her childhood journey from India to Germany (and then to Canada), reuniting with her father. However, his expectation for Anita to follow a culturally traditional path and consent to an arranged marriage destroyed her confidence and self-worth and left deep emotional scars. As she pursued higher education and individual psychotherapy, Anita found her voice through mentors who enabled her to break free, find her path to healing and inner strength, and eventually unlock the skills needed to help others. In these pages, Anita Astley now acts as your mentor and guide so you can do the same and learn to maintain inner emotional balance and form healthy, fulfilling relationships with those you love.

Breaking The Chains Of Poverty written by Demetrius Sandridge and has been published by Page Publishing Inc this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-11-09 with Self-Help categories.

Ronald L. Godbee, Sr. calls it “the book that will liberate you and activate you to live from the position that Christ established for you on the cross.” While many think that the difference between poverty and wealth is defined by the car one drives, the size of the house one lives in and the amount of money in one’s bank account, the truth of the matter is those things are results—or lack thereof—not definitions. In this candid debut book, Breaking the Chains of Poverty: The Secret to Having a Wealthy, Healthy and Wholesome Life, author Demetrius Sandridge helps readers recognize those moments God affords us the opportunity to prosper and come up higher in every aspect of our lives—and how we can maximize those opportunities. Chronicling his story from rags to riches, and riches back to rags, Sandridge ignites a sense of excitement and urgency—which catapults readers out of a poverty mindset into a millionaire mentality with every turn of the page. In this book, you will be challenged to: Transform your mindset to that of a millionaire Learn to use money as a tool, not a motivator of dreams and goals Apply simplistic, practical approaches to go from your current reality to dream fulfillment How to apply action to your faith, and faith to your actions Encourage others to adopt your new way of thinking And more! "Wow, very powerful my friend...Congratulations” -Chris C. Klebba “Read this book, and I guarantee wisdom will come alive in you!” -Pastor Eddie Williams “This book is a fundamental treatise that empowers the reader to understand that though life, at times, may seem intractable and untenable, it can also be liberating and instructive.” -Bishop Edgar L. Vann, II “This book taps into millions of people's minds, souls and spirits like none other!” -Mary Jackson

The Healthy Deviant written by Pilar Gerasimo and has been published by North Atlantic Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-01-07 with Health & Fitness categories.

Introducing a radical approach to wellness: This self-help guide rejects ‘one-size-fits-all’ dieting and health advice to offer practical strategies and tools for getting healthy—your way. What kind of society makes being healthy and happy so difficult that only a single-digit percentage of the population can hope to pull it off? The answer: A sick society. And within a sick society—one where illness, anxiety, and depression are the prevailing norms—what does it mean to be one of the few people to beat those unhealthy odds? It means bucking a lot of your society’s norms and rejecting a lot of its conventional health prescriptions. It also means acknowledging a disturbing truth: If you aren’t breaking the rules, you’re probably breaking yourself. That’s the simple, provocative philosophy behind The Healthy Deviant, one seasoned health journalist’s quest to reframe healthy choices as a positive form of social rebellion. Combining hand-drawn infographics and statistics with insights from sociology, psychology, evolutionary biology, functional medicine, and the school of hard knocks, this category-defying book rejects the idea that diet and exercise alone can save us—or are even the best places to start. Gerasimo’s 14-day Healthy-Deviant Adventure Program presents a series of powerful perspective shifts and simple daily practices—plus illustrations, infographics, worksheets, reminders, and progress tracking tools—that put you firmly back in charge of your own wellbeing. Part manifesto, part whispered wake-up call, The Healthy Deviant is a modern-day survival guide for being a healthy person in an unhealthy world. Starting now.

A Practical Guide To Acceptance And Commitment Therapy written by Steven C. Hayes and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-03-19 with Psychology categories.

This book is the most practical clinical guide on Acceptance and Commit ment Therapy (ACT said as one word, not as initials) yet available. It is designed to show how the ACT model and techniques apply to various disorders, settings, and delivery options. The authors of these chapters are experts in applying ACT in these various areas, and it is intriguing how the same core principles of ACT are given a nip here and a tuck there to fit it to so many issues. The purpose of this book, in part, is to emboldened researchers and clinicians to begin to apply ACT wherever it seems to fit. The chapters in the book demonstrate that ACT may be a useful treat ment approach for a very wide range of clinical problems. Already there are controlled data in many of these areas, and soon that database will be much larger. The theory underlying ACT (Relational Frame Theory or "RFT"-and yes, here you say the initials) makes a powerful claim: psy chopathology is, to a significant degree, built into human language. Fur ther, it suggests ways to diminish destructive language-based functions and ways of augmenting helpful ones. To the extent that this model is cor rect, ACT should apply to a very wide variety of behavioral issues because of the centrality of language and cognition in human functioning.
