In the last decade, important discoveries have been made in cognitive neuroscience regarding brain plasticity and learning such as the mirror neurons system and the anatomo-functional organization of perceptual, cognitive and motor abilities.... Time has come to consider the societal impact of these findings. The aim of this Research Topic of Frontiers in Psychology is to concentrate on two domains: neuro-education and neuro-rehabilitation. At the interface between neuroscience, psychology and education, neuro-education is a new inter-disciplinary emerging field that aims at developing new education programs based on results from cognitive neuroscience and psychology. For instance, brain-based learning methods are flourishing but few have been rigorously tested using well-controlled procedures. Authors of this Research Topic will present their latest findings in this domain using rigorously controlled experiments. Neuro-rehabilitation aims at developing new rehabilitation methods for children and adults with learning disorders. Neuro-rehabilitation programs can be based upon a relatively low number of patients and controls or on large clinical trials to test for the efficiency of new treatments. These projects may also aim at testing the efficiency of video-games and of new methods such as Trans Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for therapeutic interventions in children or adolescents with learning disabilities. This Research Topic will bring together neuroscientists interested in brain plasticity and the effects of training, psychologists working with adults as well as with normally developing children and children with learning disabilities as well as education researchers directly confronted with the efficiency of education programs. The goal for each author is to describe the state of the art in his/her specific research domain and to illustrate how her/his research findings can impact education in the classroom or rehabilitation of children and adolescents with learning disorders.

Today, individuals and societies of the digital age are no longer constrained by conventional contexts, narratives, settings, and status; they are surrounded and guided by digital tools and applications leading to a digital revolution. That digital revolution changed the individual along with living styles and cultural and social relations among people. Moreover, these revolutionary changes and the increasing capabilities of smart devices have brought today's people a new kind of public sphere with questionable freedoms but also restraints in its digital dimensions. Now, it is possible to talk about the digital dimension and equivalence of all the concepts that are both individually and socially constructed in a new digital world. The Handbook of Research on Digital Citizenship and Management During Crises covers many different components engaged with digital world responsibilities. The authors assess the position, status, and reactions of the new citizen against future catastrophes. Covering topics such as epistemic divide, internet addiction, and new media technologies, this text serves as a cutting-edge resource for researchers, scholars, lawmakers, trainers, instructional designers, university libraries, professors, students, and academicians.

This volume makes a philosophical contribution to the application of neuroscience in education. It frames neuroscience research in novel ways around educational conceptualizing and practices, while also taking a critical look at conceptual problems in neuroeducation and at the economic reasons driving the mind-brain education movement. It offers alternative approaches for situating neuroscience in educational research and practice, including non-reductionist models drawing from Dewey and phenomenological philosophers such as Martin Heidegger and Merleau-Ponty. The volume gathers together an international bevy of leading philosophers of education who are in a unique position to contribute conceptually rich and theoretically framed insight on these new developments. The essays form an emerging dialogue to be used within philosophy of education as well as neuroeducation, educational psychology, teacher education and curriculum studies.

Moral Neuroeducation For A Democratic And Pluralistic Society written by Patrici Calvo and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-01-27 with Philosophy categories.
This book brings together a group of top scholars on ethics and moral neuroeducation to cover the specific field of moral learning. Although there are many studies on neural bases of human learning and the application processes in different fields of human activity, such as education, economics or politics, very few of them have delved into the specific field of moral learning. This book brings forward a discursive and cordial ethical concept suitable for the theoretical-practical development of moral neuroeducation, as well as a set of guidelines for the design of an educational model that, based on moral neuroeducation, contributes to the resolution of social problems and the eradication of undesirable patterns and behaviors such as hate speech, corruption, intolerance, nepotism, aporophobia or xenophobia. Furthermore it contains a management approach for the application of this educational model to the different areas of activity involved in social and human development. A must read for students, educators and researchers in the field of moral philosophy, (applied) ethics ethics and any other discipline working with reciprocity (economics, politics, health, etc.).

Neuroscience In Education written by Sergio Della Sala and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-04-05 with Education categories.
In the past ten years, there has been growing interest in applying our knowledge of the human brain to the field of education - including reading, learning, language, and mathematics. This has resulted in the development of a number of new practices in education - some good, some bad, and some just crazy. Hence we have had theories suggesting that listening to Mozart can boost intelligence, foot massages can help unruly pupils, fish oil can boost brain power, even the idea that breathing through your left nostril can enhance creativity Sadly, there is a gap between what neuroscientists or cognitive psychologists know about brain/mind functions and the supposedly scientific theory underlying the practices used daily in our schools. So what has caused this wholescale embrace of neuroscience in the classroom- a well-intentioned, but naive misunderstanding of how science works, ideological reasons, or financial incentives? Neuroscience in Education brings together an international group of leading psychologists, neuroscientists, and geneticists to critically review some of these new developments, examining the science behind these practices, the validity of the theories on which they are based, and whether they work. It will be fascinating reading for anyone involved in education, including psychologists, teachers, and policy makers.

For many years, there has been a quest to discover the best teaching and learning methods in order to strengthen the classroom and the mind. Researchers now know more than ever before about the brain's impact on learning, historical triggers that lead to deep learning, and how to scale education with technology. Yet much of what is known is under-utilized in the classrooms of today, if leveraged at all. Education 3.0 and eLearning Across Modalities showcases effective practices based on innovative initiatives, research, and practitioner experiences from the past two decades. The effective practices of multi-modal learning, which are well known to practitioners but largely unknown to the general academic, are explained in detail while making each technique approachable and attainable regardless of institution, size, or modality. Covering topics such as distance learning, modern learning technologies, and learning innovation, this book is essential for teachers, educational software developers, IT consultants, instructional designers, curriculum developers, graduate students, undergraduate students, academicians, administrators, higher education faculty, and researchers.
