In the last decade, important discoveries have been made in cognitive neuroscience regarding brain plasticity and learning such as the mirror neurons system and the anatomo-functional organization of perceptual, cognitive and motor abilities.... Time has come to consider the societal impact of these findings. The aim of this Research Topic of Frontiers in Psychology is to concentrate on two domains: neuro-education and neuro-rehabilitation. At the interface between neuroscience, psychology and education, neuro-education is a new inter-disciplinary emerging field that aims at developing new education programs based on results from cognitive neuroscience and psychology. For instance, brain-based learning methods are flourishing but few have been rigorously tested using well-controlled procedures. Authors of this Research Topic will present their latest findings in this domain using rigorously controlled experiments. Neuro-rehabilitation aims at developing new rehabilitation methods for children and adults with learning disorders. Neuro-rehabilitation programs can be based upon a relatively low number of patients and controls or on large clinical trials to test for the efficiency of new treatments. These projects may also aim at testing the efficiency of video-games and of new methods such as Trans Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for therapeutic interventions in children or adolescents with learning disabilities. This Research Topic will bring together neuroscientists interested in brain plasticity and the effects of training, psychologists working with adults as well as with normally developing children and children with learning disabilities as well as education researchers directly confronted with the efficiency of education programs. The goal for each author is to describe the state of the art in his/her specific research domain and to illustrate how her/his research findings can impact education in the classroom or rehabilitation of children and adolescents with learning disorders.

In this book, I expound and suggest a space for reflection, and a thorough analysis which places its greatest emphasis on a detailed review and examination about the knowledge early-childhood educators should have regarding the concepts that define the functioning of the human brain as a fundamental organ in students’ lives. On the whole, it involves discovering how we learn, in which ways emotions influence the learning process, and why it is necessary to create enriched environments for teaching-learning, based on contextualized projects. The purpose is to discover the motivation which will enhance skills and competences in young learners.

In order for neuroeducation to be a legitimate field, it must be anchored by scientific research that proves its efficacy. This research has culminated in the creation of the Neuro-Semantic Language Learning Theory (NsLLT), proposed by Dr. Ellyn Arwood, which is the primary lens of translation from research to educational practice used in this book. This anthology documents how eleven contributing authors have used the principles of the NsLLT to transform their classrooms into laboratories of learning. This publication is the first volume to provide evidence of the gains that are possible by incorporating the NsLLT into brain-based instruction. Educators, parents, and anyone who works with struggling students can use the methods presented here to revolutionize their approach to facilitating learning in these vulnerable populations.

The emerging field of neuroeducation, concerned with the interaction between mind, brain and education, has proved revolutionary in educational research, introducing concepts, methods, and technologies into many advanced institutions around the world. The Educated Brain presents a broad overview of the major topics in this new discipline: Part I examines the historical and epistemological issues related to the mind/brain problem and the scope of neuroeducation; Part II provides a view of basic brain research in education and use of imaging techniques, and the study of brain and cognitive development; and Part III is dedicated to the neural foundations of language and reading in different cultures, and the acquisition of basic mathematical concepts. With contributions from leading researchers in the field, this book features the most recent and advanced research in cognitive neurosciences.

Moral Neuroeducation For A Democratic And Pluralistic Society written by Patrici Calvo and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-01-27 with Philosophy categories.

This book brings together a group of top scholars on ethics and moral neuroeducation to cover the specific field of moral learning. Although there are many studies on neural bases of human learning and the application processes in different fields of human activity, such as education, economics or politics, very few of them have delved into the specific field of moral learning. This book brings forward a discursive and cordial ethical concept suitable for the theoretical-practical development of moral neuroeducation, as well as a set of guidelines for the design of an educational model that, based on moral neuroeducation, contributes to the resolution of social problems and the eradication of undesirable patterns and behaviors such as hate speech, corruption, intolerance, nepotism, aporophobia or xenophobia. Furthermore it contains a management approach for the application of this educational model to the different areas of activity involved in social and human development. A must read for students, educators and researchers in the field of moral philosophy, (applied) ethics ethics and any other discipline working with reciprocity (economics, politics, health, etc.).

Combining scientific research with insightful literature, The Neuroeducation Toolbox: Practical Translations of Neuroscience in Counseling and Psychotherapy provides students and clinicians with a set of tools for integrating neuroscience into clinical practice. The text emphasizes the application of neuroeducation and highlights how this powerful intervention can reduce client stress, improve outcomes, and increase levels of collaboration between counselors and their clients. Opening chapters demonstrate the myriad uses of neuroeducation in practice and explain how to facilitate the neuroeducation process. Readers explore key principles of brain development, learn about brain anatomy and physiology, and develop understanding of the autonomic nervous system. The embodied brain, memory systems, and the social emotional nature of the brain are addressed. The book closes with discussions of the technical applications of neuroscience and the future of neuroeducation. Each chapter features diverse and thought-provoking literature on neuroscience and creative neuroeducation activities written by counselors, psychotherapists, and scholars in the field. Ethical and multicultural considerations are also highlighted in each activity chapter. The Neuroeducation Toolbox is an ideal resource for courses in counseling and psychotherapy, especially those that emphasize neuroscience research and neuroeducation. Practicing clinicians will also find the text a valuable addition to their libraries.
