This book in a nutshell explains what yoga is and how it works, followed by an outline of its history and how it was developed in the East and adopted and adapted in the West. The book describes health and how it is measured since a few medical books have their own definition of health saturated and described in the Western context. It verifies how most people fail to define and measure their own state of health since they only think that they are unhealthy when something is wrong which has been influenced by what they have been socialised to think through the Western biomedical system. This book takes a moment to compare and contrast the Eastern definition opposed to the Western point of view. Furthermore, it defines health in terms of energy systems. Chapter four focuses on energy and recharging to maintain balance and free-flowing quality and good volume for the state of health. Finally, the last two chapters discuss how yoga relates with other body energy systems and how yoga and energy therapies relate to everyday life. At the end of the book, there is a series of exercises which you can do to activate and cultivate your own energy and level of existence. If yoga is new to you, I hope that this book will inspire you to find spice in your life and begin to practice, if you are already a practitioner I hope it will expand your frame of reference and take your works further.

New Age Capitalism written by Kimberly J. Lau and has been published by University of Pennsylvania Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-11-10 with Social Science categories.

The pursuit of health and wellness has become a fundamental and familiar part of everyday life in America. We are surrounded by an enticing world of products, practices, and promotions assuring health and happiness—cereal boxes claim that their contents can reduce the risk of heart disease, bars of aromatherapy soap seek to wash away our stresses, newspapers celebrate the wonders of the latest superfoods and herbal remedies. No longer confined to the domain of Western medicine, suggestions for healthy living often turn to alternatives originating in distant times and places, in cultures very different from our own. Diets from ancient or remote groups are presented as cures for everything from colds to cancer; exercise regimens based on Eastern philosophies are heralded as paths to physical health and spiritual wellbeing. In New Age Capitalism, Kimberly Lau examines the ideological work that has created this billion-dollar business and allowed "Eastern" and other non-Western traditions to be coopted by Western capitalism. Extending the orientalist logic to the business of health and wellness, American companies have created a lucrative and competitive market for their products, encouraging consumers to believe that they are making the right choices for personal as well as planetary health. In reality, alternative health practices have been commodified for an American public longing not only for health and wellness but also for authenticity, tradition, and a connection to the cultures of an imagined Edenic past. Although consumers might prefer to buy into "authentic" non-Western therapies, New Age Capitalism argues that the market economy makes this goal unattainable.

Only two types of people exist in the entire cosmos. There is no difference between the two types of men, except in mental outlook. One type of man is gross, conditioned, ignorant of the self, attached to the world and full of dual vision. On the other hand, the other type of people are subtle, free, self-aware, unattached to the world and endowed with non-dual vision. There are innumerable literature to describe the first type of man, but the description of the second type of man is found mainly in the philosophy of physiology or Sharirvigyan darshan i.e. Shavid. The gross man also tries to adopt the same approach as the subtle man, for which he takes the help of various religions and spiritual practices. However a man tries to become like them simply by observing and imitating them through Sharirvigyan darshan. In this book we will discuss the story of one such obese man. Related to this, we will discuss the life story of the subtle man in the second book related to Sharirvigyan Darshan or Shavid.

Feminism S New Age written by Karlyn Crowley and has been published by State University of New York Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-06-01 with Social Science categories.

Finalist for the 2011 ForeWord Book of the Year in the Women's Issues Category Crystals, Reiki, Tarot, Goddess worship—why do these New Age tokens and practices capture the imagination of so many women? How has New Age culture become even more appealing than feminism? And are the two mutually exclusive? By examining New Age practices from macrobiotics to goddess worship to Native rituals, Feminism's New Age: Gender, Appropriation, and the Afterlife of Essentialism seeks to answer these questions by examining white women's participation in this hugely popular spiritual movement. While most feminist approaches to the New Age phenomenon have simply dismissed its adherents for their politically problematic racial appropriation practices, Karyln Crowley looks honestly at the political shortcomings of New Age beliefs and practices while simultaneously reckoning with the affective, political, and cultural motivations which have prompted New Age women's individual and collective spiritualities. New Age spirituality is in fact the dynamic outgrowth of a long-standing tradition of women's social and political power expressed through religious writings, art, and public discourse, and is key to understanding contemporary women's history and religion's role in modern American culture alike. Crowley offers a new and provocative assessment of the significance of the New Age movement, seen through a feminist and critical race studies lens.

This work describes the dangers faced in the last half of the 20th.century, and the ways by which we were able to survive attacks from Outer Space; and from Hell itself which could have entered the physical world, at one stage. The rest of the book contains details of Occultism and Mysticism which challenge the veracity of Church dogma, which has denied and suppressed as heresy for 2000 years. In these days we face a challenge unprecedented in human history. Things are changing as the spiritualisation of the Earth proceeds at an increasing rate. There will be no overt assistance from the planets until the atomic bombs are dismantled. Meanwhile subtle means are deployed which can be related, but which require sacrifices from those who have reached a higher level of evolution. The material world is a shadow, a reflection of inner worlds. As its prisoners we do not know we are confined, but there are ways of perceiving some facets of TRUTH, which is STRANGER THAN FICTION!

John E. Fetzer and the Quest for the New Age follows the spiritual sojourn of John E. Fetzer, a Michigan business tycoon. Born in 1901 and living most of his life in Kalamazoo, Fetzer parlayed his first radio station into extensive holdings in broadcasting and other enterprises, leading to his sole ownership of the Detroit Tigers in 1961. By the time he died in 1991, Fetzer had been listed in Forbes magazine as one of the four hundred wealthiest people in America. And yet, business success was never enough for Fetzer—his deep spiritual yearnings led him from the Christianity of his youth to a restless exploration of metaphysical religions and movements ranging from Spiritualism, Theosophy, Freemasonry, UFOology, and parapsychology, all the way to the New Age as it blossomed in the 1980s. Author Brian C. Wilson demonstrates how Fetzer’s quest mirrored those of thousands of Americans who sought new ways of thinking and being in the ever-changing spiritual movements of the twentieth century. Over his lifetime, Fetzer's worldview continuously evolved, combining and recombining elements from dozens of traditions in a process he called "freedom of the spirit." Unlike most others who engaged in a similar process, Fetzer’s synthesis can be documented step by step using extensive archival materials, providing readers with a remarkably rich and detailed roadmap through metaphysical America. The book also documents how Fetzer’s wealth allowed him to institutionalize his spiritual vision into a thriving foundation—the Fetzer Institute—which was designed to carry his insights into the future in hopes that it would help catalyze a global spiritual transformation. John E. Fetzer and the Quest for the New Age offers a window into the rich and complex history of metaphysical religions in the Midwest and the United States at large. It will be read with interest by those wishing to learn more about this enigmatic Michigan figure, as well as those looking for an engaging introduction into America’s rapidly shifting spiritual landscape.

South Africa’s recent higher education protests around fees and decolonizing institutions have shone a spotlight on important issues and inspired global discussion. The educational space was the most affected by clashes between languages and ideas, the prioritizing of English and Afrikaans over indigenous African languages, and the prioritizing of Western medicine, literature, arts, culture, and science over African ones. Ethical Research Approaches to Indigenous Knowledge Education is a cutting-edge scholarly resource that examines forthcoming methodologies and strategies on educational reform and the updating of curricula to accurately reflect cultural shifts. The book examines the bias and problems that bias creates in educational systems around the world that have been dominated by Western forms of knowledge and scientific processes. Featuring a range of topics such as andragogy, indigenous knowledge, and marginalized students, this book is ideal for education professionals, practitioners, curriculum designers, academicians, researchers, administrators, and students.
