Considered one of the greatest baseball players of all time, Ty Cobb cast a shadow over the game with his violent behavior on the field and off. His shadow was never darker than when it fell on his teammates. Sam Crawford, Harry Heilmann and Heinie Manush were three of the greatest players in baseball history, good enough to be in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Each played in the Detroit outfield alongside Cobb, though their fame never reached the level of his. Little is remembered about this trio of Hall of Famers. Crawford, the all-time triples leader, Heilmann, the last right-handed batter to hit .400, and Manush, another batting champion, each made his own mark on the game, detailed for the first time in this triple biography.

Exploring Travel and Tourism: Essays on Journeys and Destinations offers a broad treatment of topics in global travel/tourism studies through articles first presented at Travel and Tourism panels at Mid-Atlantic Popular/American Culture Association conferences between 2007 and 2010. Through archival research, close readings and case studies, the authors assembled here examine the significance of travel and the tourist experience over the last two hundred years, from Borneo to Cuba to Niagara Falls, and places in between. The contributions seek to unpack the meanings of nationality, postcolonialism, place, gender, class and the Self/Other dyad as they bump up against the framework of travel studies. Taken together, the articles speak to central issues in current scholarly debates about travel, tourism and culture from various historical, geographical and disciplinary perspectives. The contributions are grouped thematically into three sections. Part I, “The Personal Travel Narrative: Constructing the Self Through Encounters with the Other,” offers close readings of travelogues, both published and unpublished. Part II, “Constructing a National Identity Through Tourism,” details the ways that nations and states market themselves to tourists. Part III, “The Meaning of Journey; The Meaning of Destination,” investigates places, both real and created, and the ways people travel to get to them.

From Nell Freudenberger, one of America's most dazzling talents, comes The Newlyweds, an utterly captivating cross-continental love story Amina Mazid is twenty-four when she leaves Bangladesh for Rochester, New York, and for George Stillman, the husband who met and wooed her online. It's a twenty-first-century romance that echoes ancient traditions - the arranged marriages of her home country. And though George falls for Amina because she doesn't 'play games', they will both hide a secret, and vital, part of their lives from each other. A brilliantly observed, wry and yet deeply moving novel about the exhilerations - and complications - of getting, and staying, wed, The Newlyweds is a tour de force - a novel as rich with misunderstandings as it is with unlikely connections. 'Young writers as ambitious - and as good - as Nell Freudenberger give us reason for hope', New York Times Book Review 'Freudenberg has rare humanity, and talent great enough to command not only a vast landscape of imbalance and misunderstanding, but also a tender sphere of tiny intimacy, hidden yearning...A marvellous book', Kiran Desai, winner of the MAN Booker Prize for The Inheritance of Loss Nell Freudenberger is the author of the novel The Dissident, (longlisted for the Orange Prize) and the story collection Lucky Girls, winner of the PEN/Malamud Award and shortlisted for the Orange New Writers' Prize and a New York Times Book Review Notable Book. She was named a New Yorker '20 Under 40' writer and one of Granta's Best Young American Novelists. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.

A day-by-day celebration in words and photographs of the young couple’s first tour of Canada. On April 29, 2011, Prince William of Wales married Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey in London. The newlyweds’ first royal tour took place in Canada from June 30 to July 8. People across the country rejoiced with the couple as they made their way through a land that holds special significance for the Royal Family, emphasizing and renewing the bond with Canada. This was not the Duke of Cambridges first trip "home to Canada," since he accompanied his parents, Charles and Diana, in 1991 and his father and brother, Harry, in 1998. This journey included such highlights as Canada Day in Ottawa, dragon boating in Prince Edward Island, visiting homeless youth in Quebec City, street hockey in Yellowknife, and a side trip to help bolster the courage of fire-devastated citizens in Slave Lake, Alberta. The Duke and Duchess presented the vibrant, modern face of the Royal Family, and excitement followed them everywhere as they travelled across Canada.

The Jenna Rollins Real Love Tour written by Megan Walker and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019 with Man-woman relationships categories.

Newlyweds Jenna and Felix are thrilled to be touring as a married couple, even though it means learning how to be a brand-new family while on the road. They're far less thrilled about the threatening letters Jenna's been receiving from her violent ex-boyfriend, Grant—and Jenna fears her past will come back to haunt her, just when everything is going so well. The band increases security and hopes for the best, even as the pressure of the threats, the tour, and Felix's still-fledgling sobriety become overwhelming. But when disaster strikes, Felix and Jenna are each forced to confront their own demons—things they thought they'd left forever in the past. They must learn to rely on each other in their frightening new circumstances—or risk losing everything they love most. The Jenna Rollins Real Love Tour is a sequel novella to Everything We Are. It's a continuation of Felix and Jenna's love story with no cliffhanger, no cheating, no breakups, and continues their happily ever after. We recommend you read Everything We Are first, though these two can be read separately from other books in the series. This book contains PG-13 rated sexual content, swearing, and references to sexual assault, partying and drug use.
