This edited volume explores Nigeria’s domestic and international politics and its implications for the country’s national development and international status. Coinciding with the twenty year anniversary of Nigeria’s return to democratic rule, this volume considers the state of democracy in Nigeria and examines its successes and challenges with a view towards offering possible solutions for the country’s future development. The first half of the volume addresses domestic politics, focusing on current issues such as the 2019 elections, Nigerian federalism, media, state-civil society relations, and Boko Haram terrorism. The second half looks at Nigeria’s relations with its African neighbors, discussing the relationships between Nigeria and South Africa, Egypt, Ghana, and Cameroon, among others. Engaging the full spectrum of the politics of a rising African power, this volume will be of interest to students and researchers of comparative politics, international relations, foreign policy, African studies, regional politics, peace, security, conflict, and development studies, as well as African policymakers.

Nigeria is a British Creation. The name came from Flora-Shaw; meaning "Niger Area people" or the people around river Niger. The first group of people were Igala, Idoma and the Igbos. They call themselves Agabaidu or Aguatta; meaning "the Lions" in their respective dialects. Attah is the head of the Kingdom while Achadu (Asadu) is the Prime Minister and second in Command to Attah Igala. Attah was regarded as the King of Africa prior to the Colonial era. The first Treaty drafted in 1831 and signed in 1841 was the first in Africa. It was the Attah that ceded Nigeria for British occupation in 1842 at Lokoja. Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa. The "Nago people" of Brazil, Haiti, Bahamas, Black Americans and Caribeans were Igala people. In this book, the so called "Black people" are not blacks but of "Golden Colour". Under light, we reflect golden colour with dark background. Balkanization of the land into districts and later provinces brought divisions and multi-ethnic diversities. The book revealed that the Igala people of Nigeria are related to Egyptian before Arab invation of Egypt, are also related to Gallas (Oromos) of Ethiopea, who are found in Somalia, Eritrea, Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan and parts of Indian Coast. The Igala people are found in Angola, Congo and West African countries. The book linked the people of Turkey and Yemen to Igalas in Nigeria. The Igala language is spoken by the Yorubas and many West African countries. The book is poised to re-unite.
