Sinds het verschijnen in juni 2013 van Noorse auteurs in Nederlandse vertaling 1741-2012. Een bibliografie - Norske forfattere oversatt til nederlandsk 1741-2012. En bibliografi hebben verschillende cultuurbemiddelaars die vertalingen verzorgen van Noorse literatuur in het Nederlands spontaan suggesties en aanvullingen doorgegeven. De respons geeft mij het vertrouwen dat de eerste druk van deze bibliografie een handig werkinstrument is voor al wie met Noorse literatuur begaan is. De bibliografie uit 2013 vormt dan ook een basis voor een verdere studie waarbij een ruimer beeld wordt verkregen van de wijze waarop Noorse literatuur onder de aandacht werd gebracht in tijdschriften, week- en maandbladen. Tijdens de opmaak van de eerste druk werd het belang van de boekomslagen en illustraties duidelijk. Fraaie boekomslagen illustreren de tijdsgeest waarin deze Noorse vertalingen eveneens werden opgenomen in de toenmalige brede culturele stroming. Wegens het belang van de ontwerpen van boekomslagen wordt in deze uitgave ook een aanzet tot inventaris van de illustratoren opgenomen. Het kan een beeld geven van de wijze waarop uitgevers een bepaalde strategie hebben gevolgd om iemands werk te typeren en te promoten. De bibliografie wordt uitgebracht in de reeks ‘Studies on Cultural Transfer & Transmission' die onder andere in het teken van de cultuurbemiddelaar staat. De vertalers en vertaalsters zijn de culturele bemiddelaars die het werk en gedachtegoed van de auteurs aan het Nederlandstalige publiek overdragen. De samensteller prof. dr. Raf De Saeger heeft ruim tien jaar aan deze bibliografie gewerkt. Het is en blijft een work in progress. De Saeger is lid van Det Kongelige Norske Videnskabers Selskab in Trondheim en organisator van vele tentoonstellingen over Noorse architectuur in Nederland en België. Den første utgaven av Noorse auteurs in Nederlandse vertaling 1741-2012. Een bibliografie - Norske forfattere oversatt til nederlandsk 1741-2012. En bibliografi utkom i juni 2013 og har ført til en rekke reaksjoner. Oversettere og andre kulturformidlere har kommet med forslag og tilføyelser. Responsen gjør meg trygg på at den første utgaven av denne bibliografien har vist seg å være et godt arbeidsverktøy for alle i det nederlandske språkområdet som brenner for norsk litteratur. Bibliografien som ble utgitt i 2013 var derfor et godt utgangspunkt for denne videre studien, hvor det gis et mer utførlig bilde av hvordan norsk litteratur kom til det nederlandske språkområdet gjennom tidsskrifter, uke- og månedsblader. Under arbeidet med formgivningen av den første utgaven ble bokomslagenes og illustrasjonenes betydning for mottakelsen av et oversatt verk tydelig. Praktfulle bokomslag forteller noe om tidsånden; oversettelsene ble innlemmet i datidens generelle kulturelle ånd. Fordi bøkenes formgivning og bokomslagene er så viktige, inneholder denne andre utgaven av bibliografien også en første kartlegging av illustratørene. Det kan danne grunnlaget for forskning i forleggernes strategi for å fremme og karakterisere en forfatters verk. Bibliografien utgis i serien «Studies on Cultural Transfer & Transmission», som blant annet dreier seg om kulturformidling. Oversetterne er kulturformidlerne som overfører forfatternes verker og tankegods til et nederlandskspråklig publikum. Bibliografien er satt sammen av prof. dr. Raf De Saeger, som har jobbet met Norske forfattere oversatt til nederlandsk 1741-2018 i mer enn ti år. Det er fortsatt et work in progress. De Saeger er medlem av Det Kongelige Norske Videnskabers Selskab i Trondheim og arrangør av mange utstillinger om norsk arkitektur i Nederland og Belgia.

Travelling Ideas in the Long Nineteenth Century is about how ideas travel on the waves of cultural transfer. The volume focuses in particular on the exchange of ideas, knowledge and culture between the Nordic countries and continental Europe. It includes reflections on travelling and transmitting ideas through various forms, and takes a step further in scrutinising how new theories in literary, cultural and historical studies, as well as new methods, are influencing research in the field of cultural transfer and transmission. In the first part of the volume, the authors examine the export and import of ideas through literature in translation, travel letters, international education strategies and the establishment of artists' colonies. Attention is paid to how writers, artists and cultural transmitters used their cross-border mobility in transferring ideas and how they were connected to each other in new contact zones. The second part is dedicated to new research approaches, such as the use of digital instruments, and research on the strategies and politics behind translated literature. Here, translation bibliographies and the bibliographical data of national libraries, which today are often accessible in digital form, come under scrutiny. These sources are valuable objects of study in the mining of translation flows.

Cultural transmitters, or mediators, play an important role in the transmission and reception of literature. What is a cultural transmitter? What role do women play in the field of cultural transfer and transmission and how active were women in developing the profession of cultural transmitter?In this volume, the first in the series Studies on Cultural Transfer and Transmission (CTaT), a select group of scholars from various disciplines from Belgium, the Netherlands and Scandinavia discuss the concept of 'cultural transmitter' from a gender perspective. The importance of the ideologies women cultural transmitters themselves entertained concerning the reception of literature is also investigated.The essays demonstrate that religious, political and economic structures played guiding roles in the lives of many women cultural transmitters. Therefore, they dealt with feminism and sociopolitical issues, sexual politics, the practice of translation (to earn money), the role of women in society and how women were raised, the position of women writers and critics and religion. Examples of other fields in which women cultural transmitters were involved include science and philosophy. Furthermore, the discusssion of the concept of 'cultural transmitter' from a gender perspective reveals that religion, nation, womanhood and entrepreneurship are important aspects to be incorporated into any definition of a cultural transmitter.While the focus is on Scandinavia and the Dutch-speaking region in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the positions and activities of the cultural transmitters discussed can be 'translated' into other language areas and 'transferred' to other periods.
