Now available for the first time from renowned author, teacher and scholar Meredith G. Kline is a brief never-before-published commentary, Genesis: A New Commentary. This posthumously published commentary on Genesis was written just after the late scholar finished his magnum opus, Kingdom Prologue, and distills his mature views on the book of Genesis and, indeed, on Scripture as a whole. Following an introduction that addresses the canonical function, literary-thematic framework, theological story, and authorship of Genesis, Kline separates the text into 10 structural divisions, offering insightful interpretation of each. The commentary has been edited by Kline\'s grandson Jonathan G. Kline and contains a foreword by Michael S. Horton. Genesis: A New Commentary will appeal to students, pastors, and laypeople who, like so many in the Reformed community, have admired or been transformed by Kline\'s teaching and writings.

Creation and Blessing is an exceptionally helpful guide for pastors and teachers. Its literary, exegetical, and theological analyses will enrich any exposition of Genesis. The author's purpose is to "help the reader appreciate the major literary and theological motifs that form the theological ideas in the narratives, and to demonstrate how these theological ideas can be developed into clear and accurate expository ideas." To accomplish this goal, he divides Genesis into more than sixty units, discussing each unit's theological ideas, describing its structure, and synthesizing its message, as well as providing an exegetical outline, an expository outline, and a bibliography.

This landmark commentary marshals the vast experience and brilliant insights of one of today’s most revered Old Testament scholars. To those familiar with the work of Bruce K. Waltke, the significance and value of Genesis will be instantly apparent. Others who are unfamiliar with Waltke have only to read the first few chapters to understand why he has earned the reputation of a scholar’s scholar, and why this masterful volume stands like a monolith among Old Testament commentaries. Exploring the first book of the Bible as "theological literature," Waltke illuminates its meanings and methods for the pastor, scholar, teacher, student, and Bible-lover. Genesis strikes an unusual balance by emphasizing the theology of the Scripture text while also paying particular attention to the flow and development of the plot and literary techniques--inclusion, irony, chiasm, and concentric patterning--that shape the message of the "book of beginnings". Genesis Models the way to read and interpret the narratives of the book of Genesis Provides helpful exegetical notes that address key issues and debates surrounding the text Includes theological reflections on how the message addresses our contemporary theological and social issues, such as ecology, homosexuality, temperance, evil, prayer, and obedience Addresses critical interpretive issues, such as authenticity, date, and authorship For all the author’s formidable intellect and meticulous research, Genesis is amazingly accessible. This is no mere study tool. Lucidly and eloquently written, it is a work of the heart that helps us not only to understand deeply God’s Word in its context, but also to consider how it applies to us today.

Leupold's classic commentary on Genesis. Two volumes in one. One of my favorite commentaries on Genesis is the tried, but useful, commentary by Leupold. It offers more sense and help on the book of Genesis than one usually finds in similar commentaries on this important book of the Bible. I highly recommend it. Walter C. Kaiser, Jr. President Emeritus Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary Rarely does a commentary have a shelf-life of over 20 years, but H. C. Leupold's Genesis is a classic exposition whose careful exegesis and theological comment make it a "must have" for every serious student of the Book of Beginnings. Kenneth Mathews Professor of Divinity Beeson Divinity School Best book on Genesis, a very thorough presentation, easy to read. A well researched, evangelical work. Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people in his lifetime and many times each week. For 38 years in London he was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel later known as Metropolitan Tabernacle. He was a prolific writer and produced many kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, and autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and much more. His ability to speak and provoke thought with divine inspiration has amazed audiences in his lifetime as well as now. Spurgeon’s messages have been considered the best literature worldwide. While he is most remembered for being a minster and having a church, his most powerful influence was that he exercised on his fellow ministers and theological students. He organized a college, trained approximately 850 students, spoke at an annual conference of ministers, and looked at this as just part of ’life’s labour and delight’ and these facts are not known as well today. These lectures are filled with down to earth practical points and advice for young ministers. His sense of humor seasons his lectures with an air of refreshment that cannot be found elsewhere. Spurgeon's Lectures to my Students, contains the substance of Spurgeon's regular Friday afternoon addresses to the college students. This new complete and unabridged publication by Delmarva Publications offers a linked table of contents and a new format for ease of reading.
