Este livro dá prossecução ao programa que em 2005 assinalou os trinta anos da morte de Ruben A., alcançando no dizer autorizado de João Gouveia Monteiro grande qualidade científica e estética em realizações que associaram originalidade e espírito didático. Tal como variadas vertentes desse programa, também esta coletânea de estudos responde, em diferentes registos, ao intuito de melhor discernir como a personalidade e a obra de Ruben Andresen Leitão, escritor e historiador, justificam o epitáfio lírico de Sophia. “Trazias contigo sempre alvoroço e início...”. Um caso assim, tão raro no contexto sócio-cultural português, começa a ganhar densidade e a manifestar-se no escolar de Coimbra e senhor na Babaou – Maison Surrealiste, que João de Almeida Garrett com lúcida memória afetiva aqui evoca – o jovem Ruben A., com seu humor dândi, sua conversa animada e plural, seu empenho inteligente de preceptor discreto, seu gesto de “viver com classe”. A edição de Para um Ruben Global – Catálogo Bibliográfico-Documental reflete a exposição que esteve patente ao público na Biblioteca Geral da Universidade de Coimbra, e que depois itinerou por diversas cidades, para assinalar em Portugal os 30 anos sobre o desaparecimento de Ruben Andresen Leitão (1920-1975). Entre outros, inclui um texto da autoria de Dália Dias, cujo doutoramento foi o primeiro em Portugal a debruçar-se sobre a obra de Ruben A., bem como a colaboração de Filipa Lowdens Vicente, doutorada e especializada na figura de D. Pedro V – este monarca foi o tema predominante da obra que o destacou enquanto historiador. Trata-se, também, do primeiro catálogo impresso que identifica os documentos existentes no Arquivo da Universidade de Coimbra relativos à sua passagem pela Faculdade de Letras, enquanto estudante de Ciências Históricas e Filosóficas, a escola onde se licenciou (1942-1945). No âmbito dos registos multimédia, referencia-se o filme Babaouo do realizador Manuel Cussó-Ferrer, rodado em 1998 com base no argumento original de Salvador Dalí, o qual marcou as suas relações de juventude com o surrealismo espanhol; além de se elencarem os registos que integram o Arquivo RTP. Sobretudo, revela à investigação os primeiros textos publicados pelo escritor na imprensa em Lisboa (1942-1943), Coimbra (1943), e, já a partir de Londres, a sua primeira colaboração no Diário Popular (1949 a 1950). Procedeu-se, ainda, à inevitável atualização em termos de bibliografia ativa e passiva.
