He traducido este manuscrito del alemán antiguo ya que me ha parecido muy interesante, primero para saciar mi curiosidad de entender de qué se trataba ya que contenía muchas imágenes y textos raros y segundo para poder compartirlo ya que estos textos no se encuentran en idioma español. Bajo el título: “Magia Natural e innatural” pone: milagro de los tesoros caseros, considero que es un verdadero tesoro de la literatura e incluso es un libro olvidado en alguna biblioteca del siglo 14 o 15. El Dr. Johannes Faust habla con su famoso fantasma Mephistofeles y le hace muchas preguntas sobre los seres infernales. Mephistopheles le da toda la información necesaria, los nombres de los demonios, cuando se puede contactar con ellos, que se puede pedir o exigir de ellos, como debe protegerse uno para no ser dominado por estos seres, generalmente la protección se hace mediante un círculo y con oraciones que llevan los nombres de Dios, Arcángeles y Ángeles, en definitiva, se da una descripción de los seres del averno con su comitiva, su sello, etc. La forma de dominar a estos seres es mediante oraciones y rezos en nombre de Dios, nombres de las jerarquías angelicales y es así que en cierto modo se crea una ciencia completa de los seres que están en el cielo y los que están en el averno. Un escrito muy interesante sobre todo para aquellos que pertenecen a iglesias cristianas, para magos, exorcistas que se dedican a cazar fantasmas, sacar demonios, si bien solo se habla de pedir grandes tesoros al ente infernal, el mismo método sirve para someterlos y enviarlos al abismo, el título pone: "Tres veces compulsión o sometimiento infernal". No he probado ninguno de los hechizos ni recetas contenidas en este libro, pero me gusta compartir, quizá a alguien le sirva más que a mí, ni siquiera sé si alguna vez probaré algo, pero sería bueno advertir al lector que es importante ser cauto, si el libro ordena que debes protegerte con un círculo, ¡hazlo!. Es interesante saber que los libros que han llegado a mis manos de alguna forma tienen relación unos con otros ya que en ellos se habla de las cosas celestes, pero también del infierno y los seres que habitan esos lugares.

From the word "Magi" came the term "Magic," which Webster has defined as follows: "The hidden wisdom supposed to be possessed by the Magi; relating to the occult powers of nature; mastery of secret forces in nature; having extraordinary properties; seemingly requiring more than human power, etc." So we may consider the word "magic" to mean: "mastery of the occult forces of nature," the term indicating the existence of such forces, and the possibility of the mastery or control of them. This book is the first treatise on magic by Éliphas Lévi and one of his fundamental works. In this book, he criticizes magic as a collection of methods and rituals. It is a widespread prejudice of modern, scientific society that "magic" is merely a ludicrous amalgam of recipes and methods derived from primitive and erroneous notions about nature. Eros and Magic in the Renaissance challenges this view, providing an in-depth scholarly explanation of the workings of magic and showing that magic continues to exist in an altered form even today. Renaissance magic, according to Ioan Couliano, was a scientifically plausible attempt to manipulate individuals and groups based on a knowledge of motivations, particularly erotic motivations. Its key principle was that everyone (and in a sense everything) could be influenced by appeal to sexual desire. In addition, the magician relied on a profound knowledge of the art of memory to manipulate the imaginations of his subjects. In these respects, Couliano suggests, magic is the precursor of the modern psychological and sociological sciences, and the magician is the distant ancestor of the psychoanalyst and the advertising and publicity agent. In the course of his study, Couliano examines in detail the ideas of such writers as Giordano Bruno, Marsilio Ficino, and Pico della Mirandola and illuminates many aspects of Renaissance culture, including heresy, medicine, astrology, alchemy, courtly love, the influence of classical mythology, and even the role of fashion in clothing. Just as science gives the present age its ruling myth, so magic gave a ruling myth to the Renaissance. Because magic relied upon the use of images, and images were repressed and banned in the Reformation and subsequent history, magic was replaced by exact science and modern technology and eventually forgotten. Couliano's remarkable scholarship helps us to recover much of its original significance and will interest a wide audience in the humanities and social sciences.
