Tarih yaşanmış geçmiş üzerine, ilk siyasi kuruluşların ortaya çıkmasından beri yazılmasına rağmen, bir ders olarak XIX. yüzyılda uluslaşma süreci ile müfredatlardaki yerini almış bir disiplindir. Fransız burjuva devrimi ve onu izleyen sanayi devrimi ile bilimsel ve teknik gelişmeler iktisadi ve sosyal gelişimin hızlanmasına yol açtı. Bu gelişmeler tarihin bilim olarak gelişimini tamamlaması sonucunu doğurdu. Bu gelişmelere paralel olarak tarih ilmi aynı zamanda bir eğitim aracı olarak kimlik oluşturma ve devlet ideolojisinin geniş kitlelere benimsetilmesinde daha fazla önem kazandı. Osmanlı Devletinde de Avrupa’ya paralel olarak tarih, Tanzimat’la gelen modernleşme çabalarıyla yerini bulacaktı. Yenilik hareketinin başında bulunanlar memleketin siyasi terbiyesini sağlamak ve ona bir ufuk açmak için tarih disiplinini lüzumlu görmüşlerdi. Osmanlı Devleti’nin son yüzyılı, tarih anlayışları, tarihçiliği ve yazılan tarihler birçok çalışmaya konu olmuşken tarihin eğitim boyutu ihmal edilmiştir. Bu çalışmada evveliyatıyla bu süreçteki “Osmanlı Devleti’nde Tarih Eğitimi” konusu incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın temel kaynaklarını Başbakanlık Osmanlı Arşivin’den elde edilen belgeler, döneme ait tarih ders müfredat programları, ders kitapları, dönem dergilerinden elde edilen makaleler oluşturmaktadır. Bunun yanında değişik kaynak ve araştırma eserlerinden de istifade edilmiştir. Dört Bölümden oluşan eser: 1. Bölüm: Kuruluş Döneminden Tanzimat Dönemine kadar Osmanlı Devletinde Tarih Eğitimi (1299-1839). 2. Bölüm: Tanzimat Döneminde Tarih Eğitimi (1839-1876). 3. Bölüm: II. Abdülhamit Döneminde Tarih Eğitimi (1876-1908). 4. Bölüm: II. Meşrutiyet Döneminde Tarih Eğitimi (1908-1922), konularından oluşmaktadır.

Recently, there has been a growing demand for diversity and inclusion in schools worldwide to ensure effective learning for every student. Efforts have been made to support teachers in promoting diversity in classrooms, but research shows that students with learning disabilities (LD), including autism spectrum disorder, neurodevelopmental disabilities, dyslexia, and executive dysfunction, still struggle to keep up despite having individualized education programs (IEPs). These students are not receiving the necessary support they need to learn effectively in the classroom, leaving them behind and often completely unprepared for their futures. When intersectional statistics are taken into account, students who have a learning disability and are among minority ethnic groups have even lower rates of earning a diploma than their counterparts. Changes in the educational system must be made to close this learning chasm and create a more equitable learning environment. Closing the Educational Achievement Gap for Students With Learning Disabilities increases awareness of the issue of inequalities in education for students with learning disabilities through improved training programs for teachers, recommendations for policy changes, and development of new strategies to close the gap between these students and their classmates. The goal of this book is to educate and empower educators, researchers, and policymakers on how they can help students with learning disabilities thrive academically and emotionally. It examines the barriers that prevent teachers from effectively providing instruction to these students. This book covers topics such as achievement gaps, student-centered approaches, and culturally responsive teaching and is ideal for educators, professionals, researchers, special education professionals, speech and occupational therapists, disability service providers, intervention strategists, psychologists, parents, and local communities.

This is an annotated translation of what is perhaps the most important Ottoman literary source for the Islamic monuments of the Ottoman capital, Istanbul: Hafız Hüseyin bin Ismail Ayvansarayî's Hadikat al-Cevami (The Garden of Mosques). Long recognized by Turkish scholars as a unique source for the city's architecture and urban form, the text, which was completed in 1195/1780 and revised and enlarged between 1248/1832-33 and 1253/1838 by Ali Sati, contains separate descriptions of each of Istanbul's more than 800 mosques, plus accounts of its medreses, tombs, tekkes and other monuments. The annotations place each of these buildings within the city's urban plan and provide biographical information about the patrons, architects and other personalities mentioned in the text. An introductory essay gives an account of Ayvansarayî's life and works, describes the various manuscript versions of the text and reviews the cartographic resources available for the study of Istanbul's urban form.
