Fundamentals Of O Ran written by Nishith Tripathi and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-03-25 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Comprehensive reference on O-RAN technology, covering its history, architecture, security, ecosystem, and more, with didactic resources included throughout Discussing both basic and advanced concepts, Fundamentals of O-RAN delivers a comprehensive summary of O-RAN, covering its history, architecture, control loops and microservices (i.e., xApps and rApps), security, ecosystem, R&D initiatives, and challenges and evolution toward 6G. The book not only includes key theoretical principles of O-RAN, but also provides a framework for the reader to carry out guided hands-on exercises through online auxiliary materials. Homework problems and review questions are included in online auxiliary materials to reinforce learning. The book includes instructions on how to create xApps, which are expected to be one of the most promising aspects of O-RAN; for example, by working with an end-to-end O-RAN system using a network slicing functionality where the rApp provides slicing specified policies to the xApp which then allocates the base station's spectrum resources based on the slicing policy to each user (belonging to a certain slice). Readers will also gain an understanding of cellular networks, particularly radio access networks, software virtualization, and software-defined networking concepts, and the knowledge needed to design, build, and test a 5G O-RAN system. Some of the sample topics explored in Fundamentals of O-RAN include: RAN evolution from black box 4G RAN to software-based and virtualized RAN (vRAN) Components of the O-RAN architecture including SMO, Non-RT RIC, Near-RT RIC, O-CU-CP, O-CU-UP, O-DU, O-RU, and O-Cloud xApp design and prototyping from scratch using open cellular software, srsRAN and O-RAN Software Community (OSC) software. Examination of various security dimensions inherent in the O-RAN architecture. Testing and integration, covering Open Test and Integration Centers (OTICs), global PlugFests, certification and badging, and end-to-end test specifications Work Groups (WGs), including WG1 to WG11, and focus groups, with information on how to obtain WG specifications Fundamentals of O-RAN is an essential reference for the workforce of tomorrow's cellular industry, including graduate students, teachers, researchers, faculty members, engineers, and employees involved in the field of wireless networks, especially radio networks.

Role Exit In Prison Officers written by Sarah Nixon and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-12-30 with Social Science categories.

Exploring why prison officers leave His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and the processes and trajectories involved in returning to ‘civilian life’, this book examines the reasons that prison officers want to leave HMPPS and how they transition back to ‘civvy street’. As well as presenting qualitative data from interviews with ex-prison officers, the authors also draw analytically on their ‘insider’ positionality to offer insights on the lived experience of prison officers both in the role and on their subsequent departure from the service. In doing so, they identify the rewards and challenges of working in a prison environment, while using Ebaugh’s (1988) four-stage model of role exit as a theoretical framework to help understand the process of leaving the prison service. Among the issues addressed are the impact of austerity, the Voluntary Early Departure Scheme, the decline in transmission of knowledge (‘jail craft’) to new recruits, high staff turnover, increased violence and the impact of COVID-19. These are counterbalanced by an exposition of what ex-prison officers recall positively about their time in service, such as loyalty, support, solidarity and pride in the uniform and helping prisoners with their custodial lives. The authors also put forward practical recommendations for ways in which HMPPS could encourage prison officers to stay in post for longer. Providing authentic insights into the role of ex-prison officers, this book is ideal reading for students and academics of criminology, penology, criminal justice, sociology and criminal psychology. It will also be of interest to criminal justice practitioners and organisations such as Unlocked Graduates, the Howard League for Penal Reform and the Prison Reform Trust.

U.S. Emergency Management in the 21st Century: From Disaster to Catastrophe explores a critical issue in American public policy: Are the current public sector emergency management systems sufficient to handle future disasters given the environmental and social changes underway? In this timely book, Claire B. Rubin and Susan L. Cutter focus on disaster recovery efforts, community resilience, and public policy issues of related to recent disasters and what they portend for the future. Beginning with the external societal forces influencing shifts in policy and practice, the next six chapters provide in-depth accounts of recent disasters— the Joplin, Tuscaloosa-Birmingham, and Moore tornadoes, Hurricanes Sandy, Harvey, Irma, Maria, and the California wildfires. The book concludes with a chapter on loss accounting and a summary chapter on what has gone right, what has gone wrong, and why the federal government may no longer be a reliable partner in emergency management. Accessible and clearly written by authorities in a wide-range of related fields with local experiences, this book offers a rich array of case studies and describes their significance in shifting emergency management policy and practice, in the United States during the past decade. Through a careful blending of contextual analysis and practical information, this book is essential reading for students, an interested public, and professionals alike.

Tilapia written by Kim Thompson and has been published by CABI this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-12-23 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Tilapia are a group of cichlid fish endemic to tropical freshwater in Africa, Jordan and Israel, that are extremely nutritious and in high global demand. They are a popular species to farm because of their relative ease of culture, their tolerance to relatively high stocking densities, large size, rapid growth and palatability. As a thorough exploration of tilapia aquaculture, this book emphasizes the significance of this group of fish and discusses the crucial elements of tilapia farming, including their reproductive and genetic characteristics, the various cultivation systems employed and the emerging governance of the practice. It also addresses important health management issues, focusing on nutrition, immunology, and animal welfare and extensively analyses the diseases that afflict tilapia, how they are diagnosed and what potential zoonotic hazards exist. Written by an international team of experts to advance the long-term, sustainable growth of the global aquaculture industry, this book is a comprehensive and essential resource for anyone involved in or learning about tilapia farming.
