Uji Kompetensi Bidan merupakan suatu proses untuk mengukur pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan sikap sesuai dengan standar profesi guna memberikan jaminan bahwa bidan mampu melaksanakan peran profesinya secara aman dan efektif di masyarakat, dan untuk mendapatkan pengakuan terhadap kompetensi yang dimiliki sesuai dengan standar kebidanan. Dasar hukum pelaksanaan uji kompetensi bidan adalah UU No. 36/2014 tentang Tenaga Kesehatan, UU No. 38/2014 tentang Keperawatan, dan Permenristek Dikti No. 12/2016 tentang Tata Cara Pelaksanaan Uji Kompetensi Mahasiswa Bidang Kesehatan. Materi uji kompetensi disusun berdasarkan standar kompetensi yang tercantum dalam standar profesi. Dalam rangka mensukseskan mahasiswa dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan Uji Kompetensi Bidan perlu kiranya dibuatkan buku panduan uji kompetensi dan kumpulan soal-soal uji kompetensi yang dapat digunakan untuk latihan. Uji kompetensi ini dapat diibaratkan sebagai sebuah pertempuran di medan perang, di mana mahasiswa harus melakukan persiapan sebaik mungkin, jika tanpa persiapan tentu hanya mengantarkan nyawa di medan perang. Begitu pula dengan mahasiswa yang mengikuti uji kompetensi, tanpa persiapan yang matang hanya akan membuang-buang biaya, tenaga, dan kesempatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penyebab mahasiswa tidak lulus uji kompetensi, di antaranya kurangnya kesiapan mental dan keilmuan, kurang memahami soal, dan tergesa-gesa. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, mahasiswa perlu dilatih untuk mengerjakan soal-soal uji kompetensi. Buku panduan uji kompetensi ini berisi tentang ketentuan dan tata cara bagi mahasiswa Program Studi Profesi Bidan dalam kegiatan uji kompetensi, disertai dengan soal-soal latihan bagi mahasiswa terkait uji kompetensi kebidanan.
