The Paris Optimizer is the guide for the independent-minded traveler who wants to make the best use of time and money while visiting the City of Light. Many guidebooks do an excellent job of answering the questions of "what" you might want to see and do in Paris. Our goal is to show you "how" to see Paris on your terms. The Paris Optimizer does not provide checklists of "must see" attractions or one-size-fits all itineraries. Rather, it provides you with the essential information that you need to design a Paris trip that is customized to be meaningful and memorable for you and your travel companions. We believe that if you spend a couple of hours with this guide, you will be well prepared to experience much more of what this wonderful city has to offer. Specifically, the Paris Optimizer will help you: * Determine your own "must see" list of museums, monuments, parks, and other attractions. * Provide ideas for attractions you may not have considered, but might appeal to you. * Enhance your visits to 50 popular attractions with "know before you go" information. * Understand the geography of Paris and how it affects your itinerary planning. * Find good and authentic French/European restaurants throughout the city that are within your budget. * Calculate realistic budgets for the on-the-ground costs of your Paris vacation and understand what different spending ranges will allow you to do. * Avoid situations that waste your time or cause you to overpay. * Set realistic expectations about what you can see and do during your visit.

Modern Optimization Methods For Decision Making Under Risk And Uncertainty written by Alexei A. Gaivoronski and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-10-06 with Computers categories.

The book comprises original articles on topical issues of risk theory, rational decision making, statistical decisions, and control of stochastic systems. The articles are the outcome of a series international projects involving the leading scholars in the field of modern stochastic optimization and decision making. The structure of stochastic optimization solvers is described. The solvers in general implement stochastic quasi-gradient methods for optimization and identification of complex nonlinear models. These models constitute an important methodology for finding optimal decisions under risk and uncertainty. While a large part of current approaches towards optimization under uncertainty stems from linear programming (LP) and often results in large LPs of special structure, stochastic quasi-gradient methods confront nonlinearities directly without need of linearization. This makes them an appropriate tool for solving complex nonlinear problems, concurrent optimization and simulation models, and equilibrium situations of different types, for instance, Nash or Stackelberg equilibrium situations. The solver finds the equilibrium solution when the optimization model describes the system with several actors. The solver is parallelizable, performing several simulation threads in parallel. It is capable of solving stochastic optimization problems, finding stochastic Nash equilibria, and of composite stochastic bilevel problems where each level may require the solution of stochastic optimization problem or finding Nash equilibrium. Several complex examples with applications to water resources management, energy markets, pricing of services on social networks are provided. In the case of power system, regulator makes decision on the final expansion plan, considering the strategic behavior of regulated companies and coordinating the interests of different economic entities. Such a plan can be an equilibrium − a planned decision where a company cannot increase its expected gain unilaterally.

Optimization For Wireless Powered Communication Networks written by Guan Gui and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-27 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This SpringerBrief introduces the basics of wireless powered communication networks (WPCNs). In particular, the background and concept of WPCNs are briefly discussed. Moreover, this brief provides an extensive study of the recent developments in this area from an optimization perspective. Wireless powered communication network (WPCN) is a new network paradigm for IoT, where wireless devices (WDs) are powered by radio frequency (RF) based wireless power transfer (WPT) to eliminate the need for recharging or replacing the batteries manually and to prolong their lifetime. In this context, the brief also discusses some optimization problems for state-of-the-art scenarios of wireless powered communication networks. The target audiences for this SpringerBrief are researchers, engineers, and undergraduate and graduate-level students, who are studying or working in wireless powered communication networks and its performance optimization.

Business Optimization Using Mathematical Programming written by Josef Kallrath and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-08-31 with Business & Economics categories.

This book presents a structured approach to formulate, model, and solve mathematical optimization problems for a wide range of real world situations. Among the problems covered are production, distribution and supply chain planning, scheduling, vehicle routing, as well as cutting stock, packing, and nesting. The optimization techniques used to solve the problems are primarily linear, mixed-integer linear, nonlinear, and mixed integer nonlinear programming. The book also covers important considerations for solving real-world optimization problems, such as dealing with valid inequalities and symmetry during the modeling phase, but also data interfacing and visualization of results in a more and more digitized world. The broad range of ideas and approaches presented helps the reader to learn how to model a variety of problems from process industry, paper and metals industry, the energy sector, and logistics using mathematical optimization techniques.
