With the rise of digital technology, educators must adapt quickly, especially in higher education. "Pedagogical Resilience, from Class to Digital Room" examines how Brazilian educators addressed technology adoption during the pandemic. It sheds light on their experiences, challenges, and innovative strategies for integrating technology into higher education during COVID-19. The book provides insights into local and international educational landscapes by placing Brazil in the global discussion. The research reveals how educators' preferences, subject matter, and institutional policies influence technology adoption. These aspects help us understand how pedagogy and technology intersect in different contexts and open for discussion about how decision-makers may impact students' development. This research also led to the development of the "Inverted Mirror" instrument. This tool helps visualize comparisons and uncover hidden aspects in qualitative and comparative studies. Initiated at Stockholm University as part of a master's degree in International and Comparative Education, the research received support from professors who confirmed the instrument's relevance. A dedicated section in the book explains the "Inverted Mirror" instrument's functionalities and components. This book invites readers to learn from Brazilian educators' experiences and explore how technology is changing teaching methods.

The world has spent the majority of 2020 enduring an unpreceded crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact of this crisis has been enormous, and the situation has yet to be resolved. It is still difficult to anticipate when the pandemic will end and how our lives will have changed after the crisis. Higher educational institutions (HEIs) have also had to undergo tremendous transformation, in particular, changing a conventional educational, teaching, and learning system to a digital and online mode and cancelling or postponing important events such as graduation and entrance ceremonies and entrance examinations. In addition, a number of HEIs have been facing financial constraints due to reduced enrolment, particularly from overseas. Students have missed opportunities to meet their family and friends, causing profound psychosocial impact and stress for all concerned. Simultaneously, however, the situation has given HEIs a good opportunity to consider their disaster preparedness, response, and recovery capacity on campus. Some surveys have highlighted a lack of preparedness for pandemic and other hazardous risks beyond natural hazards. Safety issues are a top priority at HEIs because they bring together a number of students, faculty, and staff. This book covers the experiences and lessons learned from HEIs in preparedness, response, and recovery during the COVID-19 pandemic to prepare for such calamities beyond natural disasters in the future. The book consists of 15 chapters divided into three major sections. They highlight the importance of HEIs’ governance issues in disaster risk management, examine the challenges that HEIs have faced during the pandemic and the implementation of new teaching and learning methodologies, and provide innovative responses and preparedness by HEIs based on science and technology, respectively.

Scholars In Covid Times written by Melissa Castillo Planas and has been published by Cornell University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-09-15 with Education categories.

Scholars in COVID Times documents the new and innovative forms of scholarship, community collaboration, and teaching brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this volume, Melissa Castillo Planas and Debra A. Castillo bring together a diverse range of texts, from research-based studies to self-reflective essays, to reexamine what it means to be a publicly engaged scholar in the era of COVID. Between social distancing, masking, and remote teaching—along with the devastating physical and emotional tolls on individuals and families—the disruption of COVID-19 in academia has given motivated scholars an opportunity (or necessitated them) to reconsider how they interact with and inspire students, conduct research, and continue collaborative projects. Addressing a broad range of factors, from anti-Asian racism to pedagogies of resilience and escapism, digital pen pals to international performance, the essays are connected by a flexible, creative approach to community engagement as a core aspect of research and teaching. Timely and urgent, but with long-term implications and applications, Scholars in COVID Times offers a heterogeneous vision of scholarly and pedagogical innovation in an era of contestation and crisis.

Childhood is a critical period of development, and the educational experiences during these years play a pivotal role in shaping a child's cognitive, emotional, and social growth. By prioritizing play, exploration, and social interaction alongside structured learning, we can foster a generation of adaptable, empathetic, and confident individuals ready to navigate the world. Teaching Beyond Dread written by Alexander Means and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-02-18 with Education categories.

This book explores how teaching endures in the age of pervasive dread. It asks: How does teaching refuse and counter dread's grip? What new stories of teaching might be told beyond the culture of dread? Dread is the prevailing mood of this era. Dread is an affliction of minds, bodies, and social life. Climate chaos, spiraling inequality, loss of community, cynicism, and escalating attacks on public schools, universities, and educators are all contribute to pervasive dread. This book explores the persistence of teaching in this era of dread. The chapters examine the context of teaching in a time of dread and touch upon different valences of race and pedagogy, as well as pedagogy in relation to global crises of capitalism, technology, and ecology. Taken together, they explore how teaching endures over dread and examine how teaching might be rethought as a creative force for imagination over fatalism, reciprocity over exploitation, thought over fundamentalism, belonging over atomization, love over nihilism, mutuality over narcissism, care over hatred, joy over despair, democracy over fascism, and hope over dread. This thought-provoking volume will be a key resource for educators, scholars, artists, and activists alike. It was originally published as a special issue of Review of Education, Pedagogy, and Cultural Studies.
