Performance is the central focus of every organization, and yet for many how this can be achieved is an unanswered question. This book takes the case of Formula 1 motorsport, where the connection between performance and all elements of the organization is fundamental to success. Can you imagine your organization as a Ferrari or a Jordan, a Williams or a Minardi? Your management team as a pit crew? Your sales force as the race team and your marketing and research people as the design studio creating a Formula 1 car? The case histories and examples which are examined provide both inspirational and instructional guidance to those seeking to achieve levels of performance - at the limit of possibility.

Performance Analysis For Public And Nonprofit Organizations written by XiaoHu Wang and has been published by Jones & Bartlett Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-02-13 with Business & Economics categories.
Performance Analysis for Public and Nonprofit Organizations provides a step-by-step guide on how to conduct applied performance analysis to improve performance for public and nonprofit organizations. It is designed as a how-to-do manual for public and nonprofit managers who want to know how to conduct performance analysis. It features a practical case-study approach, and includes plentiful exercises and examples with easy-to-use demonstrations of Microsoft Excel. The book focuses on application of performance analysis tools, not the theory of performance management. This text is an effective learning tool for students in analytical technique courses in public administration and policy programs. With other texts, students may learn about a statistical concept and calculation, but still don't understand the managerial context where the statistical tool applies. Consequently, they often fail to understand the managerial importance of statistical tools they learn, and worse, fail to recognize the correct tool to use when a managerial issue rises. This book corrects this problem by providing a managerial context that bridges statistical concepts and the managerial reality. The managerial context is performance management, in which performance data are presented, monitored, and analyzed. It is in this performance management context that the usefulness and applicability of statistical tools are illuminated for the learner. Thoroughly classroom-tested, the book is designed as a textbook for courses of analytical and statistical techniques in public administration and nonprofit management. Each chapter starts with a discussion of tools and related concepts with examples, then presents a factual case study to demonstrate the use of the tools, and ends with a list of practice questions. Equipped with the latest research, the book is also designed for public and nonprofit managers on how to use performance information to improve organizational performance.

Mega Quakes Cascading Earthquake Hazards And Compounding Risks written by Katsuichiro Goda and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-03-15 with categories.
Large-scale earthquake hazards pose major threats to modern society, generating casualties, disrupting socioeconomic activities, and causing enormous economic loss across the world. Events, such as the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, highlighted the vulnerability of urban cities to catastrophic earthquakes. Accurate assessment of earthquake-related hazards (both primary and secondary) is essential to mitigate and control disaster risk exposure effectively. To date, various approaches and tools have been developed in different disciplines. However, they are fragmented over a number of research disciplines and underlying assumptions are often inconsistent. Our society and infrastructure are subjected to multiple types of cascading earthquake hazards; therefore, integrated hazard assessment and risk management strategy is needed for mitigating potential consequences due to multi-hazards. Moreover, uncertainty modeling and its impact on hazard prediction and anticipated consequences are essential parts of probabilistic earthquake hazard and risk assessment. The Research Topic is focused upon modeling and impact assessment of cascading earthquake hazards, including mainshock ground shaking, aftershock, tsunami, liquefaction, and landslide.

Comprehensive Logistics written by Timm Gudehus and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-06-09 with Business & Economics categories.
Modern logistics comprises operative logistics, analytical logistics and management of performance networks. Central task of operative logistics is the efficient supply of required goods at the right place in the right order at the right time. Tasks of analytical logistics are to design optimal supply networks and logistic systems, to develop strategies for planning, scheduling and operation and to organize efficient order and performance processes. Logistic management has to plan, implement and operate performance networks and to schedule the orders, resources and inventories. This reference-book offers a unique survey of modern logistics. It contains methods, rules and tools for the solution of a broad variety of problems. The algorithms and formulas can be used for the computer-based planning of logistic systems and for the dynamic scheduling of orders and resources in supply networks. The analytically derived rules and strategies enable considerable improvements of performance, quality and costs. Their practical application is demonstrated by several examples from industry, trade and logistic service providers. An extensive index makes the book a dictionary of modern logistics. The book is written for managers, planners and consultants, for economists and engineers, for theorists and practitioners, for scientists, students and others who are interested in logistics and performance networks.
