Peripheral Methodologies written by Francisco Martínez and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-27 with Computers categories.

How does peripherality challenge methodology and theory-making? This book examines how the peripheral can be incorporated into ethnographic research, and reflects on what it means to be on the periphery – ontologically and epistemologically. Starting from the premise that clarity and fixity as ideals of modernity prevent us from approaching that which cannot be easily captured and framed into scientific boundaries, the book argues for remaining on the boundary between the known and the unknown in order to surpass this ethnographic limit. Peripheral Methodologies shows that peripherality is not only to be seen as a marginal condition, but rather as a form of theory-making and practice that incorporates reflexivity and experimentation. Instead of domesticating the peripheral, the authors engage in (and insist on) practicing expertise in reverse, unlearning their tools in order to integrate the empirical and analytical otherwise.

Extended Urbanisation written by Christian Schmid and has been published by Birkhäuser this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-10-24 with Architecture categories.

Extended methods of analysis for urbanisation processes illustrated in eight world regions. Urbanisation processes are unfolding far beyond the realm of agglomerations, profoundly transforming agrarian areas, rain forests, deserts and oceans. Inextricably bound to the earth’s ecologies, these developments are causing manifold planetary crises which require urgent scrutiny and call for new conceptions and cartographies of the urban beyond-the-city. Through detailed analysis and fieldwork captured in text, photographs and hand-drawn maps, the book portrays the effects of extended urbanisation in eight world regions. It offers a redefinition of the very notions of the “city”, “urban” and “urbanisation” and outlines new urban agendas developed to address planetary challenges. This book decenters the perspective on the urban, foregrounds urban struggle, and transcends rural-urban and north-south divides. Fundamental book for urbanism studies Redefinition of the terms “city”, “urban” and “urbanisation” Analysis of urbanisation processes in eight world regions

Wisdom From The Edge written by Paul Stoller and has been published by Cornell University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-08-15 with Literary Criticism categories.

Wisdom From the Edge describes what anthropologists can do to contribute to the social and cultural changes that shape a social future of wellbeing and viability. Paul Stoller shows how anthropologists can develop sensuously described ethnographic narratives to communicate powerfully their insights to a wide range of audiences. These insights are filled with wisdom about how respect for nature is central to the future of humankind. Stoller demonstrates how the ethnographic evocation of space and place, the honing of dialogue, and the crafting of character depict the drama of social life, and borrows techniques from film, poetry, and fiction to expand the appeal of anthropological knowledge and heighten its ability to connect the public to the idiosyncrasies of people and locale. Ultimately, Wisdom from the Edge underscores the importance of recognizing and applying indigenous wisdom to the social problems that threaten the future.

Neuropsychology And Cardiovascular Disease written by Ronald A. Cohen and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with Medical categories.

Roughly one of every three Americans has some form of cardiovascular disease (CVD), including more than 70% of persons older than 75 years of age. Long associated with increased risk for mortality and disability, CVD is also a major risk factor for stroke and cerebrovascular disease. There has been growing consensus that CVD is also an important contributor to poor neurocognitive outcome in own right. Numerous studies now link CVD to accelerated cognitive decline, and structural and functional brain abnormalities, including neurodegnerative conditions in the elderly. While vascular dementia is the most obvious example of severe brain dysfunction directly tied to chronic vascular disease, evidence is also mounting that Alzheimer's disease may be linked to some of the same pathophysiological mechanisms that underlie cardiovascular disease. This book was written to provide up-to-date insight into these heart-brain connections and the neuropsychology of CVD. Highlights include: - Controversies in vascular dementia and vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) - Effects of aging on cerebral hemodynamics and autoregulation - How blood vessel function contributes to cognitive decline - Updates on the cognitive impact of cardiosurgical procedures - Neurocognitive aspects of heart failure - Neuropsychological evaluation of persons with CVD - Mechanisms by which neurological changes produce cardiac dysfunction - Recent findings in the structural and functional neuroimaging in CVD Both clinicians and researchers in neuropsychology, health psychology, cardiology, neurology, psychiatry, geriatrics and many others will find this book an important resource.

Fpga Based Prototyping Methodology Manual written by Doug Amos and has been published by Happy About this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Computers categories.

This book collects the best practices FPGA-based Prototyping of SoC and ASIC devices into one place for the first time, drawing upon not only the authors' own knowledge but also from leading practitioners worldwide in order to present a snapshot of best practices today and possibilities for the future. The book is organized into chapters which appear in the same order as the tasks and decisions which are performed during an FPGA-based prototyping project. We start by analyzing the challenges and benefits of FPGA-based Prototyping and how they compare to other prototyping methods. We present the current state of the available FPGA technology and tools and how to get started on a project. The FPMM also compares between home-made and outsourced FPGA platforms and how to analyze which will best meet the needs of a given project. The central chapters deal with implementing an SoC design in FPGA technology including clocking, conversion of memory, partitioning, multiplexing and handling IP amongst many other subjects. The important subject of bringing up the design on the FPGA boards is covered next, including the introduction of the real design into the board, running embedded software upon it in and debugging and iterating in a lab environment. Finally we explore how the FPGA-based Prototype can be linked into other verification methodologies, including RTL simulation and virtual models in SystemC. Along the way, the reader will discover that an adoption of FPGA-based Prototyping from the beginning of a project, and an approach we call Design-for-Prototyping, will greatly increase the success of the prototype and the whole SoC project, especially the embedded software portion. Design-for-Prototyping is introduced and explained and promoted as a manifesto for better SoC design. Readers can approach the subjects from a number of directions. Some will be experienced with many of the tasks involved in FPGA-based Prototyping but are looking for new insights and ideas; others will be relatively new to the subject but experienced in other verification methodologies; still others may be project leaders who need to understand if and how the benefits of FPGA-based prototyping apply to their next SoC project. We have tried to make each subject chapter relatively standalone, or where necessary, make numerous forward and backward references between subjects, and provide recaps of certain key subjects. We hope you like the book and we look forward to seeing you on the FPMM on-line community soon (go to www.synopsys.com/fpmm).
