Glocalized Solutions For Sustainability In Manufacturing written by Jürgen Hesselbach and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-03-19 with Technology & Engineering categories.
The 18th CIRP International Conference on Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) 2011 continues a long tradition of scientific meetings focusing on the exchange of industrial and academic knowledge and experiences in life cycle assessment, product development, sustainable manufacturing and end-of-life-management. The theme “Glocalized Solutions for Sustainability in Manufacturing” addresses the need for engineers to develop solutions which have the potential to address global challenges by providing products, services and processes taking into account local capabilities and constraints to achieve an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable society in a global perspective. Glocalized Solutions for Sustainability in Manufacturing do not only involve products or services that are changed for a local market by simple substitution or the omitting of functions. Products and services need to be addressed that ensure a high standard of living everywhere. Resources required for manufacturing and use of such products are limited and not evenly distributed in the world. Locally available resources, local capabilities as well as local constraints have to be drivers for product- and process innovations with respect to the entire life cycle. The 18th CIRP International Conference on Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) 2011 serves as a platform for the discussion of the resulting challenges and the collaborative development of new scientific ideas.

Advances In The Theory Of Control Signals And Systems With Physical Modeling written by Jean Levine and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-10-05 with Technology & Engineering categories.
In the 60's, control, signals and systems had a common linear algebraic background and, according to their evolution, their respective backgrounds have now dramatically differed. Recovering such a common background, especially in the nonlinear context, is currently a fully open question. The role played by physical models, finite or infinite dimensional, in this hypothetical convergence is extensively discussed in this book. The discussion does not only take place on a theoretical basis but also in the light of two wide classes of applications, among the most active in the current industrially oriented researches: - Electrical and Mechatronical systems; - Chemical Processes and systems appearing in Life Sciences. In this perspective, this book is a contribution to the enhancement of the dialogue between theoretical laboratories and more practically oriented ones and industries. This book is a collection of articles that have been presented by leading international experts at a series of three workshops of a Bernoulli program entitled “Advances in the Theory of Control, Signals and Systems, with Physical Modeling” hosted by the Bernoulli Centre of EPFL during the first semester of 2009. It provides researchers, engineers and graduate students with an unprecedented collection of topics and internationally acknowledged top-quality works and surveys.

Current State And Future Perspective In Human Robot Interaction written by Constantin Voloşencu and has been published by BoD – Books on Demand this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-04-16 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book addresses the modern field of human-robot interaction, reviewing the field's current state and providing research studies with future perspectives. The book has ten chapters, which cover several topics such as social robots that come to the aid of the elderly through gerontechnology, helping families with children through child-robot interaction, and robots in human households; the issue of mobile robots that move and interact with humans; technologies for robot design; emotional engagement in learning environments, detecting danger and emotions of human subjects in terrorist attack situations; machine ethic issues in artificial intelligence-based robots; and medical robots for assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients diagnosed with neurodegenerative disorders. The book highlights the powerful capabilities of modern robots, including their efficiency demonstrated practically in the case of safe operation, but also draws attention to possible undesirable operations on which science must have its say. It also emphasizes the robot's ability to interact with humans, the need to simplify interaction and the advanced methods to enhance the human-robot interaction. The book is intended for a broad audience, including academics and industrial specialists, such as professors, researchers, designers, and students.
