Mathematical modeling and computer simulation are useful tools for improving materials processing. While courses in materials processing have covered modeling, they have been devoted to one particular class of materials--polymers, metals, or ceramics. This text offers a new approach, presenting an integrated treatment of metallic and non-metallic materials. The authors show that a common base of knowledge--specifically, the fundamentals of heat transfer and fluid mechanics--unifies these seemingly disparate areas. They emphasize understanding basic physical phenomena and knowing how to include them in a model. The book also includes selected numerical methods, a wealth of practical, realistic examples, and homework exercises.

Modelling And Simulation Of Sheet Metal Forming Processes written by Marta C. Oliveira and has been published by MDPI this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-04-22 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The numerical simulation of sheet metal forming processes has become an indispensable tool for the design of components and their forming processes. This role was attained due to the huge impact in reducing time to market and the cost of developing new components in industries ranging from automotive to packing, as well as enabling an improved understanding of the deformation mechanisms and their interaction with process parameters. Despite being a consolidated tool, its potential for application continues to be discovered with the continuous need to simulate more complex processes, including the integration of the various processes involved in the production of a sheet metal component and the analysis of in-service behavior. The quest for more robust and sustainable processes has also changed its deterministic character into stochastic to be able to consider the scatter in mechanical properties induced by previous manufacturing processes. Faced with these challenges, this Special Issue presents scientific advances in the development of numerical tools that improve the prediction results for conventional forming process, enable the development of new forming processes, or contribute to the integration of several manufacturing processes, highlighting the growing multidisciplinary characteristic of this field.

This book offers a unique approach to integrated high-temperature process modelling, intended to serve as a design aid for new metal processing technologies. The second edition has been substantially expanded to include new content such as: a new algorithm and test results of 3D stereoscopic visualization; new programming procedures for modelling; the validation of computer simulation using experimental results; a multiscale model of grain growth; a conceptual methodology developing “high-temperature” CCT (continuous cooling transformation) diagrams, and many more examples validating the numerical simulations. The models presented are applied in comprehensive tests in order to solve problems related to the high-temperature deformation of steel. The testing methods include both physical tests using specialist laboratory instruments, and advanced mathematical modelling: the Finite Element method (FE), Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics method (SPH) and Mo nte Carlo method (MC).This approach, which integrates the fields of physical and computer-based simulations, forms the basis for the described concept of integrated high-temperature process modelling, presented in detail in this book.

Production Technology For Deep Reservoirs written by Yan Peng and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-11-28 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Underground energy is important for the whole society development but conventional underground energy is becoming exhausted. The energy for deep reservoirs (usually >3500m for petroleum engineering, >1000m for mining engineering) is diverse, including not limited shale gas/oil, tight gas/oil, hot dry rock geothermal reservoirs and coal gasification. Although it has abundant reserves, the energy production from deep reservoirs is difficult in stimulations because the geological conditions for those deep reservoirs are tougher than those for conventional reservoirs, such as high in-situ stress, obvious heterogeneity in rock properties and complex natural fracture networks. Meanwhile, common technologies also have environmental impacts. The development trend of production technology for deep reservoirs requires it to be environment friendly or decrease environmental impacts at least. CO2 utilization may achieve this environmental aim. In order to efficiently produce energy from deep reservoirs, technological innovation is booming around North America, Europe and Asia.
