Understanding Pisa S Attractiveness written by Florian Waldow and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-05-02 with Education categories.

Understanding PISA's Attractiveness examines how policy makers and the media interpret the results of PISA league-leaders, losers, and slippers in ways that suit their own reform agendas. As a result, a myriad of explanations exist as to why an educational system is high or low performing. The chapters, written by leading scholars from Australia, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, the UK and the USA, provide a fascinating account of why results from PISA and other international large-scale assessments are interpreted and translated differently in the various countries. The analyses in this book bring to light the wide array of idiosyncratic projections into these international tests. In some countries, these tests are also used to scandalise one's own educational system and to generate quasi-external reform pressure. Compiled by two leading scholars in comparative education, Florian Waldow and Gita Steiner-Khamsi, this book offers a truly global perspective on the uses and abuses of PISA and will be of great interest to students and academics working in educational policy, comparative education and political science and those working on large-scale data sets.

The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) is an international achievement measure that assesses 15-year-old student performance in the areas of reading, mathematics, and science literacy in over 70 countries and economies triennially. By presenting an in-depth examination of PISA’s role in education governance and policy discourses, this book provides the reader with a critical analysis of the educational change process within our increasingly global educational policy environment. Exploring the prominent socio-political drivers of large-scale educational reform across the globe, chapter authors examine PISA’s national and global implications from a diverse range of regional contexts. Through the presentation of cross-disciplinary viewpoints and topical issues related to the PISA international survey, this volume explains the degree to which PISA-focused research is linked to national educational policy discourses and international education agendas.

Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Schulwesen, Bildungs- u. Schulpolitik, Note: 1,3, Universität Konstanz, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Abstract The results of the international student assessment study PISA 2000 have uncovered serious shortcomings of the German school system and evoked a great public response. Since then numerous scientific publications have dealt with the PISA study and its implications. But one aspect so far has found little consideration: the programmatical processing of the PISA shock by the political parties. The present thesis picks up this scientific desideratum and analyses how the programmatical profiles in the area of school policy of the two Volksparteien CDU and SPD have changed since the first PISA study. Furthermore it will be examined which of those in the course of PISA thematized proposals for reform have been programmaticaly seized by the parties. At last it will be studied, if in the aftermath of the PISA shock there has been a greater programmatical convergency or divergency of the parties. To handle these questions, the state election manifestos (Landtagswahlprogramme) from CDU and SPD of all the german federal states of the last elections before and the first elections after PISA are analyzed with the method of content analysis. On the basis of the empirical results it can be shown, that the school political profiles of the two partys have changed in content as well as in their fields of attention. Thus there has been spotted the appearance of new topics such as early childhood education and also the emphasizing of certain aspects, for instance the expansion of full-time schools. From the mainly thematized proposals for the improvement of the German school system, it seems that the majority has been picked up by the parties. In this context it attracts attention that the claims for special measures to reduce educational disadvantages of kids and youths are hardly taken into account by the parties. Concern

In March 2019, students and researchers from Germany, the USA, China, Kenya and South Africa came together at the University of Tuebingen to discuss Educational Governance from an international perspective. The group was mainly comprised of Ph.D.- and Master-students from various disciplines - Education, Literature, Philosophy, Political Science - and debated questions such as: What are the distinctive and different rationales underlying the discourse of Educational Governance and its political, economic, academic and pedagogic objectives? How can we make these rationales visible and which theories and analytic tools can help us to decipher the meanings attached to them? Are there different local and national trajectories in education discourse and practice with regard to Educational Governance and which role do international organizations and transnational transfer play? This edited volume displays these discussions and aims at initiating a broader communication about Educational Governance between previously separated spaces.

Assessment Policy Reform written by Tina Isaacs and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-05-21 with Education categories.

This book highlights the impact of policy and politics on assessment across the globe. With contributions from England, the Irish Republic, Northern Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and Wales, it explores state-led assessment policies and practices that have been the subject of much debate. We are experiencing a shift from using assessments — especially national tests — as measurement instruments designed to produce information, to a reliance on tests to influence policy and instruction. Once tests become high stakes — for students, teachers, and schools — even those that might have been reasonable monitors of educational success can lose dependability and credibility. However, not all countries’ assessment policies follow the same model and the contributors explore and analyse a range of different national (and supra-national) assessment policy approaches and perspectives. The chapters identify the impetus behind changing assessment policies and practices and analyse ways forward and innovative approaches. Readers can draw their own conclusions about which model(s) can provide the best outcomes for learners – surely the most important part of the equation. This book was originally published as a special issue of Assessment in Education: Principles, Policy & Practice.

An exchange on education ideas has shaped the transatlantic discourse in education for a long time. Over the past two decades education science has increasingly become networked internationally. Since 2015, the Office for International Cooperation in Education at DIPF | Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education has organized international sessions on education research at the Annual Meetings of the American Educational Research Association, thus providing a floor for transatlantic exchange on current research topics. The volume gives an overview of the transatlantic activities in education research with regard to these sessions representing a collection of topics ranging from school development over the use of large scale assessment and digital data in education to questions related to migration and public education or the economization of education. At the same time the volume offers a reflection on the assets and obstacles of international exchange.

Pisa In Den Massenmedien written by Lukas Otterspeer and has been published by Waxmann Verlag this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019 with Education categories.
