In the later chapters the urge takes the boys to see the world and they head for Liverpool with the idea of getting jobs on a trawler. Written with humour and understanding, the book is authentic but never old fashioned.

That is a mother's job, to teach their child to love themselves to such an extent that they can handle anything. Life is full of challenges and it is our job to make those challenges easier for our children."
