This book presents many valuable tips for making decisions related to traffic flow in the transport networks. The knowledge base in practical examples, as well as the decision support systems described in this book, finds interest among people who face the daily challenge of searching for solutions to the problems of contemporary transport networks and systems. The publication is therefore addressed to local authorities related to the planning and development of development strategies for selected areas with regard to transport (both in the urban and regional dimension) and to representatives of business and industry, as people directly involved in the implementation of traffic engineering solutions. The tips contained in individual sections of the publication allow to look at a given problem in an advanced way and facilitate the selection of the appropriate strategy (among others, in relation to the evaluation of BEV and FCHEV electric vehicles in the creation of a sustainable transport systems, development of ecological public transport on the example of selected cities, impact of drivers' waiting time on the gap acceptance at median, uncontrolled T-intersections). In turn, due to a new approach to theoretical models (including, inter alia, the application of genetic algorithms for the planning of urban rail transportation system, comprehensive estimate of life cycle costs of new technical systems using reliability verification algorithm, application and comparison of machine learning algorithms in traffic signals prediction), the publication also interests scientists and researchers carrying out research in this area.

This book presents many valuable tips for making decisions related to road traffic in transport networks. The knowledge base in practical examples, as well as the decision support systems described in this volume, finds interest among people who face the daily challenge of searching for advanced solutions and practical applications in road traffic engineering. The publication is therefore addressed to local authorities related to the planning and development of development strategies for selected areas with regard to transport (both in the urban and regional dimension) and to representatives of business and industry, as people directly involved in the implementation of traffic engineering solutions. The tips contained in individual sections of the publication allow to look at a given problem in an advanced way and facilitate the selection of the appropriate strategy (among others, in relation to the heuristic approach to assessing the performance efficiency of road intersections inurban environments from the resilience perspective, modeling the distribution of transport pollutants in a naturally ventilated road tunnel, development of a camera-based parking monitoring system with an automatic parking spot identification). In turn, due to a new approach to theoretical models (including, inter alia, problems with the safety of passengers at tram stops or energy-efficient radio platforms for the implementation of nodes of sensor networks), the publication also interests scientists and researchers carrying out research in this area. The publication entitled "Road Traffic Analysis, Theoretical Approaches and Practical Solutions" contains selected papers submitted to and presented at the 19th “Transport Systems. Theory and Practice” Scientific and Technical Conference organized by the Department of Transport Systems, Traffic Engineering and Logistics at the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology. The conference took placeon September 18–19, 2023, in Katowice (Poland).

Prediction of traffic (like weather forecast), its planning and control are counted among the great scientific and technological challenges. Similarly, flow of granular material like tablets or powders is of immense importance for industrial processing of solids. Both fields have intriguing conceptual analogies. From 9-11 October, 1995, the German Supercomputing Center HLRZ (Höchstleitungsrechenzentrum) at the research center Jülich (KFA) organized an international workshop 'Traffic and Granular Flow'. The purpose of this workshop was to promote the interaction between these two scientific fields, to which supercomputing is making essential contributions, and to stimulate the transfer between basic and applied research.

Dynamics And Stochasticity In Transportation Systems Part Ii written by Giulio E Cantarella and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-01-04 with Transportation categories.
Dynamics and Stochasticity in Transportation Systems Part II: Equations and Examples goes beyond theory and mathematical models to give readers a practical understanding of dynamic and stochastic assignment modeling approaches in transportation systems. These approaches are critical for the future of transportation systems analysis, providing a better understanding of system evolution over time and of travelers' behavior in challenging scenarios, including ITS as well as new services, such as shared vehicles, and new kinds of vehicles, such as connected or autonomous vehicles. After an introduction in chapter 1, chapters 2-5 each provide an introduction followed by recent advances, review of contents of the corresponding chapters in Giulio Cantarella's previous book, discussion of numerical examples matching the sections, a summary, and final remarks. Readers will appreciate the fully discussed numerical examples, applications to real cases, review of recent developments and other materials not easily available in the literature, such as long proofs. This book bridges the mathematical theory with operational needs in a way that no current book does with practical, real-world cases and examples. Academics, researchers, and instructors as well as professionals, practitioners, and consultants will find this a valuable resource for solving network equilibrium problems in transportation systems analysis. - Covers dynamic aspects of transportation network analysis through application of mathematical models to real cases - Discusses operational issues of mathematical models for evaluation of traffic and transport demand interventions, giving readers a practical approach to these problems and bridging theoretical and operational aspects together - Presents recent new developments and the latest research findings since 2019 - Includes numerical examples and applications supported by several figures and tables, allowing the reader to reproduce the presented results

Concise Encyclopedia Of Traffic And Transportation Systems written by M. Papageorgiou and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-10-22 with Business & Economics categories.
The vast expansion of transportation systems on land, sea and in the air throughout the twentieth century has allowed for the development of economic, social and political connections across the globe undreamed of by our ancestors. However, this expansion has brought with it familiar problems such as airport delays and gridlock in our major cities. Fortunately, parallel progress in system science and information technology can provide us with the appropriate tools for rational and efficient solutions to our exponentially increasing transportation demands. This encyclopedia addresses the analysis, modelling and control of today's and tomorrow's traffic and transportation systems in a concise, comprehensive single volume. Well over 100 articles have been specially commissioned, or revised from the acclaimed Systems & Control Encyclopedia, to provide an overview of and first reference to models, control methods and practical aspects of all forms of traffic and transportation systems with a particular emphasis on efficient utilization of available infrastructure, plus a consideration of their historical, organizational, economic and social impacts. The Concise Encyclopedia of Traffic & Transportation Systems will be essential for professional and academic scientists and engineers in any discipline concerned with the movement of people and materials.
