Author Bill Terrel, a conservative Republican, became alarmed about the direction the United States was headed about fifteen years ago; at that time, he began putting his thoughts down on paper before wising up and buying a laptop. He also began to make phone calls, write letters, and seek to connect with politicians who could help the country change its course. But today the nation remains at risk, and its up to concerned citizens to respond to that risk. Terrel considers issues that are important to all Americans, including how you can play an active role in holding leaders accountable; reverse the bad policies of the Obama administration; evaluate information delivered by the media; and rediscover the values that make America a great country. Part autobiography and part political opinion essay, this candid commentary explores the nations history and the goals of the founding fathers, considering where and how we went off track. Be inspired by an American who has refused to give up, and help the United States rediscover the principles on which it was founded.

'She was a girl, really, with short red hair and a waif-like slimness. But despite the flowered dress she wore, her belly had begun to show. Immobile, the girl gazed at the clinic as though it were a thousand miles away.' The young woman is Mary Ann Tierney. She is fifteen years old. Within days her name will be known to millions across America, her court case a television must-watch for everyone from the President downwards. As Mary Ann takes on her own parents and the constitutional law of the United States in a desperate bid to protect her future right to bear children, the ramifications of 'the Tierney case' bring a threat to the new President, Kerry Kilcannon, to his nominee for Chief Justice, Caroline Masters, and to his main rival for the Presidency, Senator Chad Palmer. All have dangerous secrets in their past, secrets that would not only threaten careers, but bring death and tragedy to innocent lives.

Lincoln became great from reading, writing, studying, thinking, making speeches, working steadily as a lawyer and working continuously on self improvement. We are fortunate that Lincoln was rebellious as a child and learned to read. There was another rebellious class of people at the time-slaves. Slaves were forbidden to learn to read and write. Many of them made a decision to do the opposite of what their masters ordered. They secretly learned to read and write. Lincoln as president had a great respect for former slaves who wrote and lectured. To him, they were heroic. Many were self taught and seemed more intelligent than Lincoln himself in spite of being badly mistreated before escaping slavery. Sojourer Truth noticed that President Lincoln seemed to admire black people. She said, "he showed as much kindness and consideration to the colored persons as to the white-if there was any difference, more." At his second inaugural reception he said to Frederick Douglass, "Douglass, I saw you in the crowd today listening to my inaugural address. There is no man's opinion that I value more than yours: what did you think of it?" "It was a sacred effort," said Douglass. Lincoln became an early martyr for African American Civil Rights. During his last speech he said, "It is unsatisfactory to some that the elective franchise is not given to the colored man. I would myself that it were now conferred on the very intelligent and on those who served our cause as soldiers." That was too much for John Wilkes Booth. He decided to kill him.
