This volume contains the proceedings of Formal Methods 2005, the 13th InternationalSymposiumonFormalMethodsheldinNewcastleuponTyne,UK, during July 18–22, 2005. Formal Methods Europe (FME, www.fmeurope.org) is an independent association which aims to stimulate the use of, and research on, formal methods for system development. FME conferences began with a VDM Europe symposium in 1987. Since then, the meetings have grown and have been held about once every 18 months. Throughout the years the symposia have been notablysuccessfulinbringingtogetherresearchers, tooldevelopers, vendors, and users, both from academia and from industry. Formal Methods 2005 con?rms this success. We received 130 submissions to the main conference, from all over the world. Each submission was carefully refereed by at least three reviewers. Then, after an intensive, in-depth discussion, the Program Committee selected 31 papers for presentation at the conference. They form the bulk of this volume. We would like to thank all the Program Committee members and the referees for their excellent and e?cient work. Apart from the selected contributions, the Committee invited three keynote lectures from Mathai Joseph, Marie-Claude Gaudel and Chris Johnson. You will ?nd the abstracts/papers for their keynote lectures in this volume as well. AninnovationfortheFM2005programwasapaneldiscussiononthehistory of formal methods, with Jean-Raymond Abrial, Dines Bjørner, Jim Horning and Cli? Jones as panelists. Unfortunately, it was not possible to re?ect this event in the current volume, but you will ?nd the material documenting it elsewhere (see the conference Web page).

How To Use Objects written by Holger Gast and has been published by Addison-Wesley Professional this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-22 with Computers categories.

While most developers today use object-oriented languages, the full power of objects is available only to those with a deep understanding of the object paradigm. How to Use Objects will help you gain that understanding, so you can write code that works exceptionally well in the real world. Author Holger Gast focuses on the concepts that have repeatedly proven most valuable and shows how to render those concepts in concrete code. Rather than settling for minimal examples, he explores crucial intricacies, clarifies easily misunderstood ideas, and helps you avoid subtle errors that could have disastrous consequences. Gast addresses the technical aspects of working with languages, libraries, and frameworks, as well as the strategic decisions associated with patterns, contracts, design, and system architecture. He explains the roles of individual objects in a complete application, how they react to events and fulfill service requests, and how to transform excellent designs into excellent code. Using practical examples based on Eclipse, he also shows how tools can help you work more efficiently, save you time, and sometimes even write high-quality code for you. Gast writes for developers who have at least basic experience: those who’ve finished an introductory programming course, a university computer science curriculum, or a first or second job assignment. Coverage includes • Understanding what a professionally designed object really looks like • Writing code that reflects your true intentions—and testing to make sure it does • Applying language idioms and connotations to write more readable and maintainable code • Using design-by-contract to write code that consistently does what it’s supposed to do • Coding and architecting effective event-driven software • Separating model and view, and avoiding common mistakes • Mastering strategies and patterns for efficient, flexible design • Ensuring predictable object collaboration via responsibility-driven design Register your product at informit.com/register for convenient access to downloads, updates, and corrections as they become available.

Guide To Software Verification With Frama C written by Nikolai Kosmatov and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-07-09 with Computers categories.

Frama-C is a popular open-source toolset for analysis and verification of C programs, largely used for teaching, experimental research, and industrial applications. With the growing complexity and ubiquity of modern software, there is increasing interest in code analysis tools at various levels of formalization to ensure safety and security of software products. Acknowledging the fact that no single technique will ever be able to fit all software verification needs, the Frama-C platform features a wide set of plug-ins that can be used or combined for solving specific verification tasks. This guidebook presents a large panorama of basic usages, research results, and concrete applications of Frama-C since the very first open-source release of the platform in 2008. It covers the ACSL specification language, core verification plug-ins, advanced analyses and their combinations, key ingredients for developing new plug-ins, as well as successful industrial case studies in which Frama-C has helped engineers verify crucial safety or security properties. Topics and features: * Gentle, example-based introduction to software specification and verification * Wide panorama of state-of-the-art specification and analysis techniques * Step-by-step guide to develop your own, tailor-made analysis on top of the platform* Inspiring success stories of Frama-C deployment on industrial code* More than 15 years of R&D on analysis and verification of C code This book is firmly rooted on the practice of software analysis, with numerous examples, exercises and application guidelines. As such, it is particularly well suited for software verification practitioners wishing to deploy verification on their code, as well as for undergraduate students with little or no experience in code analysis techniques. More advanced sections on the theoretical underpinnings of the analyzers will be of interest for graduate students and researchers. Nikolai Kosmatov is a Senior Researcher at Thales Research & Technology, France. Virgile Prevosto is a Senior Researcher and Julien Signoles is a Research Director, both at Université Paris-Saclay, CEA, List, France.
