The application of futures thinking in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) has become increasingly important in recent years. Integrating speculative thinking with future design approaches has allowed HCI researchers to explore the potential impacts of technology on digital society. However, the implementation and application of futures thinking in HCI research is an emerging area. Digital Futures in Human-Computer Interaction: Design Thinking for Digital Transformation fills this gap by systematically analyzing HCI's innovation trends in the digital era. This book explores the dialogue between digital transformation and futures thinking for alternative visions of HCI research. The book highlights significant trends and advancements in futures thinking related to HCI. Case studies illustrate the role of futures thinking, offering readers a broad overview of the subject while detailing the competencies and practices that can lead to successful futures design. This engaging and informative reference will appeal to students, academics, and researchers interested in various design aspects related to HCI. These aspects include service design, sustainable design, product design, space design, visual communication, design education, futures studies, and social innovation.

Digital Futures For Learning written by Jen Ross and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-11-08 with Education categories.

Digital Futures for Learning offers a methodological and pedagogical way forward for researchers and educators who want to work imaginatively with "what’s next" in higher education and informal learning. Today’s debates around technological transformations of social, cultural and educational spaces and practices need to be informed by a more critical understanding of how visions of the future of learning are made and used, and how they come to be seen as desirable, inevitable or impossible. Integrating innovative methods, key research findings, engaging theories and creative pedagogies across multiple disciplines, this book argues for and explores speculative approaches to researching and analysing post-compulsory and informal learning futures – where we are, where we might go and how to get there.

The postgraduate seminar series on advanced structured materials is designed to facilitate teaching and informal discussion in a supportive and friendly environment. The seminar provides a forum for postgraduate students to present their research results and train their presentation and discussion skills. Furthermore, it allows for extensive discussion of current research being conducted in the wider area of advanced structured materials. Doing so, it builds a wider postgraduate community and offers networking opportunities for early career researchers. In addition to focused lectures, the seminar provides specialized teaching/overview lectures from experienced senior academics. The 2023 Postgraduate Seminar entitled “Advanced Structured Materials: Development - Manufacturing - Characterization – Applications” was held from 20th till 24th February 2023 in Barcelona. The presented postgraduate lectures had a strong focus on polymer mechanics, composite materials, and additive manufacturing.

Behavioural Production written by Robert Stuart-Smith and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-07-15 with Architecture categories.

Autonomous manufacturing and cyber-physical systems are key enabling technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4) which are currently being incorporated into the building design and construction industries. These emerging IR4 technologies have the potential to effectively improve construction affordability and productivity, address current and future building demand, and reduce the environmental impact of the built environment. However, design approaches that make use of IR4 technologies are still relatively unexplored. While automation, such as mass production, promotes standardised design solutions, design thinking that embraces varying degrees of autonomy can lead to unique and considered approaches to design on an industrial scale. Behavioural Production: Semi-Autonomous Approaches to Architectural Design, Robotic Fabrication and Collective Robotic Construction explores design operating through the orchestration of spatiotemporal events. A multi-agent behaviour-based approach to computation is employed in architectural design and extended to individual and swarm-based robotic methods for additive manufacturing. Behavioural Production seeks to expand our capacity to engage with the world at large through varying degrees of autonomy. In an industrialised world where traditional craftsmanship has been marginalised and cannot scale to meet societal needs, this book speculates a means to bring scalable forms of creativity into the act of making. This is explored through the use of materials, generative algorithms, computer vision, machine learning, and robot systems as active agents in design conception and realisation. The book presents a collection of ideas, projects, and methods developed in the author’s design practices and research labs in the fields of architecture and computer science. This body of work demonstrates that engaging with semi-autonomous processes does not diminish authorship, but rather expands it into new forms of design agency that seamlessly integrate with emerging manufacturing and construction technologies whilst authoring distinctive design character.

Qualitative Research Methods In Air Transport Management written by Kurt, Yeşim and has been published by IGI Global this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-02-06 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Qualitative research methods play an important role in air transport management by providing insights into the complexities of the industry that quantitative data cannot capture alone. Through techniques such as interviews, case studies, focus groups, and observational research, qualitative methods allow researchers and practitioners to explore the human, organizational, and cultural factors that influence decision-making, customer experiences, and operational efficiency in air transport. This approach enables a deeper understanding of passenger behaviors, airline management practices, regulatory impacts, and industry trends. By focusing on the nuances and subjective experiences of stakeholders, qualitative research contributes to the development of more effective strategies, policies, and innovations within the air transport sector. Qualitative Research Methods in Air Transport Management reveals the relationship between qualitative research methods and academics, researchers and industry professionals who carry out studies related to the air transport sector. It exemplifies qualitative research practices in the aviation sector while providing in-depth analysis and discusses the importance of qualitative research for understanding the structures in the sector and the experiences of aviation professionals. This book covers topics such as traffic control, aviation engineering, and air transportation, and is a useful resource for business owners, researchers, engineers, data scientists, and academicians.
