This is an open access book.Related to the big theme of the SDGs reinforcement at our previous conference, we try to invite all academics and researchers around the world to participate in the 4th Borobudur International Symposium 2022 (4thBIS 2022). As we know, the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on all the 17 SDGs have demonstrated how what began as a health catastrophe swiftly transformed into a human, socioeconomic and environmental crisis. The 4th BIS brought up “The Innovation Chain: A Contribution to Society and Industry” as the main theme to respond this condition. This conference is expected to support the UN Agenda. Additionally, this conference will also provide avenues for participants to exchange ideas and network with each other as well as domain experts from their fields. Overall, this event is aimed at professionals across all spheres of technology and engineering including the experienced, inexperienced, and students as well. The conference will be held virtually on Wednesday, December 21st, 2022 in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia.

This is an open access book. Still related to the big theme of reinforcement the SDG’s at the previous conference, we try to invite academics and researchers in the world to participate in the 3rd Borobudur International Symposium 2021 (3rd BIS 2021). As we know, The COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on all 17 SDGs have demonstrated that what began as a health catastrophe swiftly transformed into a human and socioeconomic crisis. In September 2019, the UN Secretary-General urged all sectors of society to mobilize for a decade of action on three fronts: global action to ensure increased leadership, increased resources, and smarter solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals; local action to embed the necessary transitions into governments’ policies, budgets, institutions, and regulatory frameworks; and international action to ensure greater leadership, increased resources, and smarter solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals. Especially in 3rd BIS 2021, we brought up “Decade of Action towards Environmental Issues: Advancing the Innovation to Recover our Planet” as main theme. The conference will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. Mombowa Tumpe adalah upacaya adat yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat adat Batui di wilayah Banggai, Indonesia. Upacara yang dipusatkan pada ritual penyerahan telur burung maleo yang pertama kepada Kerajaan Banggai merupakan simbol rasa syukur dan amanah yang diperintahkan nenek moyang kepada masyarakat. Tradisi tahunan ini merupakan warisan budaya penting masyarakat Batui, dan peleksanaannya melibatkan serangkaian acara dan ritual yang mencerminkan nilai-nilai dan norma sosial masyarakat. Upacara diawali dengan pengambilan telur burung maleo oleh pejabat adat dari berbagai lokasi, antara lain Dakanyo Tolando, Binsilo Katudunan, Dakanyo Kolam, dan Dakanyo Ende, Telur-telur tersebut kemudian diangkut ke Pulau Peling untuk dipersembangkan kepada Kerajaan Banggai sebagai tanda penghargaan dan penghormatan terhadap leluhur. Proses ini diiringi dengan berbagai ritual, termasuk doa dan persembanagn kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa, yang dimaksudkan untuk menjamin keselamatan dan keberhasilan pengiriman telur. Upacara Mombowa Tumpe tidak hanya sekedar perayaan hasil panen, namun juga merupakan salah satu cara masyarakat Batui mempertahankan identitas budayanya dan mewariskan tradisinya kepada generasi mendatang. Upacara ini dipandang sebagai cara untuk menghormati leluhur dan meneguhkan nilai-nilai sosial masyarakat, seperti menghormati satu sama lain, aturan adat, dan status sosial. Upacara ini juga menjadi pengingat akan pentingnya melestarikan warisan budaya masyarakat dan perannya dalam membentuk kehidupan sehari-hari. Upacara Mombowa Tumpe telah dilakukan secara turun temurun dan dianggap sebagai bagian penting dari budaya Batui. Meski di tengah pengaruh modernisasi dan kemajuan teknologi, masyarakat tetap menjunjung tradisi ini sebagai cara untuk terhubung dengan masa lalu dan mempertahankan identitas budayanya. Upacara ini merupakan bukti ketahanan praktik tradisional dan pentingnya melestarikan warisan budaya untuk generasi mendatang.

This is an ethnography of Dobu, a Massim society of Papua New Guinea, which has been renowned in social anthropology since Reo Fortune's Sorcerers of Dobu (1932). Focusing on exchange and its underlying ethics, this book explores the concept of the person in the Dobu world view. The book examines major aspects of exchange such as labor, mutual support, apologetic gifts, revenge and punishment, kula exchange, and mortuary gifts. It discusses in detail the characteristics of small gifts (such as betel nuts), big gifts (kula valuables, pigs, and large yams) and money as they appear in exchange contexts. The ethnography begins with an analysis of the construct of the Dobu person, and sets out to examine everyday practices and values. The belief system (incorporating witches, sorcerers, and a Christian God) is shown to have a powerful influence on individual conduct due to its panoptic character. The institutions that link Dobu with the outside world are examined in terms of the ideology concerning money: the Church receives offerings for God; the difficulties faced by trade-store owners evince conflicting notions concerning monetary wealth. The last two chapters delve into lived experience in two major domains of Dobu exchange: kula and the sagali feast.

The adult guides and nurtures the young, neither coercing nor neglecting them, to develop the confidence and independence required for an adult life in a capitalist society.

The theme of the conference is "Reconstructing Morals, Education, and Social Sciences for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals". This theme was formulated due to several considerations. First, the symptoms of moral decline that have the potential to destroy the nation. Morals guide humanity towards truth and civilization. The phenomenon of the dehumanization process in the industrial era that pushed people to be part of abstract societies tends to ignore humanity. The education process as a humanitarian system is increasingly marginalized, especially during discussions about the industrial revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0. The conference placed six sub-themes for speakers and participants to share ideas, namely: Social Sciences and Laws, History and Cultural Studies, Interdisciplinary Studies, Morals and Humanities, Policy, Politics, and Communication, Education. The committee has received 195 abstracts from prospective speakers. However, there are only 80 abstracts that are eligible to be presented at this conference.
