Industrial Process Identification and Control Design is devoted to advanced identification and control methods for the operation of continuous-time processes both with and without time delay, in industrial and chemical engineering practice. Much has been written about the general difficulty of developing the models required for model-based control of processes whose dynamics exhibit signif icant nonlinearity (for further discussion and references, see Chapter 1). Many process control books focus on control design techniques, taking the construction of a process model for granted.
