Este libro presenta fragmentos de las historias de hijos, esposos, padres, hermanos y de dos mujeres, una de ellas con un hijo en gestación, que caminaron sobre suelos chillanejos hasta que un día sus vidas fueron truncadas por un poder irracional. Casi medio siglo tardó la justicia en acusar al principal culpable de muchas de las ejecuciones, secuestros y desapariciones forzadas de la dictadura en la provincia de Ñuble. La gran mayoría de las víctimas en la actual región del Ñuble, continúa desaparecida. 24 de diciembre de 1973: Después de tres meses de búsqueda, el relojero Mario Weitzel encuentra los restos de su hijo Patricio Weitzel Pérez bajo el Puente El Ala, en las riberas del río Ñuble, junto a otros cadáveres. Había sido secuestrado desde su hogar la noche del 1 de octubre de 1973, en una redada que alcanzó a otros 9 jóvenes, sacados de sus propios hogares. Patricio tenía 26 años y se dedicaba al mismo oficio que su padre. No fueron las únicas víctimas de la represión. En un planificado y crítico período entre el 11 de septiembre y el 20 de diciembre de 1973 -al que se agregaron algunos otros casos, entre 1974 y 1978- un total de 84 personas de la provincia de Ñuble sufrieron el mismo inhumano destino. Sólo 26 de ellos han sido encontrados. Las ejecuciones ocurrieron en las calles, en los campos o en sus propios hogares. 19 mayo 2022: En la resolución causa rol 6-2017, el ministro Carlos Aldana acusa al general (r) de Carabineros, Patricio Jeldres Rodríguez, como autor de los homicidios de Patricio Weitzel Pérez y Gabriel Cortez Luna; de los secuestros calificados de Ricardo Troncoso León, Arturo Prat Martí, José Retamal Velásquez, Robinson Ramírez del Prado, Leopoldo López Rivas, y Mario Moreno Castro y del secuestro agravado de Juan Poblete Tropa.

La pregunta no es baladí. Puede que Miró no fuera un escritor de maEn efecto, en concordancia con la estética de vanguardia, fue un autor difícil. Pero fue una figura clave de la llamada edad de plata. Sus obras, además, suscitaron un interés de repercusiones mediáticas, como las polémicas eno a su retrato del clero o la presunta inmoralidad de su prosa y su heterodoxa visión de Cristo. En este libro, se sugieren las razones que han podido llevar a este injusto olvido literario y se muestra que, a pesar de todo, su obra nunca ha dejado de ser relevante, y ha influido en autores de postguerra tan importantes como Camilo José Cela y Francisco Umbral, en la obra narrativa de un filólogo de tanto prestigio como Antonio Prieto y en otros novelistas como Pedro de Lorenzo, Antonio Zoido y Adolfo Lizón. Guillermo Laín Corona es profesor de lengua y literatura españolas en University College London. ENGLISH VERSION Why does it seem that Gabriel Miró has been neglected as a secondary writer in the literary history of Spain, with fewer and fewer readers? Miró might not have had a mass readership, as, according to the aesthetics of the Avant-Garde, he was a difficult writer. However, hisworks attracted the kind of attention that fascinated the media, including the controversies surrounding his portrayals of the clergy, the supposed immorality of his prose and his heterodox view of Christ. This book tackles the reasons for this unfair neglect and shows that, despite it, his work was never completely overlooked. Indeed, Miró influenced relevant writers of the post-Civil War period, such as Camilo José Cela and Francisco Umbral, as well as the prose fiction of an important philologist like Antonio Prieto and other novelists such as Pedro de Lorenzo, Antonio Prieto and Adolfo Lizón. Guillermo Laín Corona is a Teaching Fellow in Spanish Language and Literature at University College London.
