Attraverso la disamina delle architetture siciliane, il libro propone una narrazione, tra le tante possibili, dell'opera di Franco Purini e di Laura Thermes. Una narrazione che si compone di diciotto racconti. Ciascun racconto, pur costituendo un brano a sé stante, trova il suo compimento in una unitarietà che ha come filo comune l'esperienza della Sicilia, scenario ideale dei loro progetti. E quando testo e contesto combaciano, come per le opere siciliane del celebre Studio romano, basta leggere un solo racconto o concentrarsi su una sola immagine perché l'intero sistema possa essere compreso. Una ricognizione sulla complessità del clima architettonico degli ultimi quarant'anni ma anche un dovuto omaggio dell'Isola, del Belice e di Gibellina in particolare, alla loro ricchissima e variegata carriera. Maurizio Oddo è ricercatore presso l'Università degli Studi Kore di Enna, già professore a contratto presso la Facoltà di Architettura di Catania. Numerose le sue partecipazioni a conferenze e mostre, sia nazionali che internazionali, e a concorsi di progettazione dove ha ottenuto premi e segnalazioni. Nel 2002 apre lo studio Boma con Alessandro Barracco; diverse le opere realizzate, come il progetto per il Belvedere e giardino di Triscina (con Marcello Maltese e Maria Morici), a margine dell'area archeologica di Selinunte, Villa Francesca e Casa Ditta. Ha curato la prima Mostra antologica dello Studio Purini/Thermes.
