Empathy has never been more important, yet we're living in an era of a massive empathy deficit. At the same time, workplace culture has changed dramatically. Leaders, who have already been stretched to the limit, are now being called on to create and nurture genuine connection, psychological safety, and well-being across their organizations--all while adapting to the values of a new generation that won't compromise on diversity, equity, and inclusion. As this book shows, human beings are wired to care, and we can become more empathic with practice. Empathy increases dopamine, reduces stress, boosts self-esteem, heightens the immune system, and enriches our relationships. Empathy also improves business key performance indicators. This means that leveraging empathy on purpose can lead to better health, happier and more productive workplaces, and a more meaningful life. That's why empathy is our superpower. Through inspiring stories; interviews with experts, including business leaders, neuroscientists, activists, social entrepreneurs, and spiritual leaders; a new model rooted in positive psychology and coaching; and self-development exercises at the end of each chapter, Purposeful Empathy offers wisdom and practical advice to foster personal, organizational, and social transformation.

May Empathy Lead to Sense of Purpose Through Tenacity? By: Antonio E. Morales-Pita, PhD In the introduction, this author analyzes and summarizes three successful authors about empathy and sense of purpose, such as Keep Sharp Build a Better Brain at Any Age by Sanjay Gupta, The Purpose of Driven Life, which was a best seller, written by Rick Warren, and The Art of Empathy by Karla McLaren. This book is one of the few, or maybe the first one, in dealing with the triple interaction of empathy, sense of purpose and tenacity. Can empathy, sense of purpose, and tenacity be inherited? Why is it impossible to be defeated by procrastination if the individual possesses the trio empathy, sense of purpose and tenacity? Which one of them is the most effective in overcoming procrastination? Dr. Morales analyzes the consequence of being empathetic from the executor’s and the recipient’s standpoints. Is it possible to be simultaneously empathetic but neither tenacious nor lacking sense of purpose? Which was the most convincing proof of Gladys Morales’ immense empathy? Can the combination of the trio “empathy-sense of purpose-tenacity” be powerful enough to allow a person not to grieve after his/her most loved one’s decease?

Empathy And Fairness written by Gregory R. Bock and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-01-11 with Medical categories.

Empathy is the process that allows us to share the feelings and emotions of others, in the absence of any direct emotional stimulation to the self. Humans can feel empathy for other people in a wide array of contexts: for basic emotions and sensation such as anger, fear, sadness, joy, pain and lust as well as for more complex emotions such as guilt, embarrassment and love. It has been proposed that, for most people, empathy is the process that prevents us doing harm to others. Although empathy seems to be an automatic response of the brain to others’ emotional reactions, there are circumstances under which we do not share the same feeling as others. Imagine, for example, that someone who does the same job as you is paid twice as much. In this case, that person might be very satisfied with their extra salary, but you would not share this satisfaction. This case illustrates the ubiquitous feeling of fairness and justice. Our sense of fairness has also become the focus of modern economic theories. In contrast to the prominent self-interest hypothesis of classic economy assuming that all people are exclusively motivated by their self-interest, humans are also strongly motivated by other-regarding preferences such as the concern for fairness and reciprocity. The notion of fairness is not only crucial in personal interaction with others in the context of families, workplace or interactions with strangers, but also guides people’s behaviour in impersonal economic and political domains. This book brings together work from a wide range of disciplines to explain processes underlying empathy and fairness. The expert contributors approach the topic of empathy and fairness from different viewpoints, namely those of social cognitive neuroscience, developmental psychology, evolutionary anthropology, economics and neuropathology. The result is an interdisciplinary and unitary framework focused on the neuronal, developmental, evolutionary and psychological basis of empathy and fairness. With its extensive discussions and the high calibre of the participants, this important new book is essential reading for anyone with an interest in this topic.

Many people assume that we can separate emotions from thoughts and decisions, but to do so, can only lead one to the wrong decisions, decisions these made under the effect of the subconscious mind, and therefore being unconscious decisions. Recent research in Psychiatry has been showing us how emotions and thoughts are deeply interrelated, and to a point in which they actually determine them. One's emotional wellbeing can and does, in fact, determines the ability to make good decisions in life. And so, we can actually say that emotional intelligence can directly affect cognitive intelligence. One can't simply analyze life or anything it might include while ignoring the emotions behind the beliefs, delusions, fears and ambitions.Within this path, and inspired on conversations with several people looking for answers that hide inside them, this book was written with the purpose of enlightening readers to a path that will grant more purpose and success in life, either it is related to a job or to relationships. The love of a companion can inspire one to higher ambitions, the compliment of a boss can motivate an employee to arrive earlier and do more, the appreciation of a reader, when letting the author know how much he impacted in a positive way, can grant him more beingness and speed when waking up early in the morning to, in solitude, write to thousands of human beings that he might never meet in person. Love feeds the world and makes it move in harmony in a multitude of forms and ways. But nothing in the field of psychiatry or psychology can go as deep as the spiritual meaning that understanding love can have in our life. And it is precisely taking into account the wisdom of the ancients on this topic that this book presents a more organic view on the meaning of loving and truly experiencing a life abundant in positive emotions.
