Esto es tolerancia y silencio.\r\n\r\nCon esta cumbre episcopal —presidentes de todas las conferencias episcopales del mundo— se abrió un proceso novedoso —ha tenido su continuidad en el Sínodo de la Amazonía—, que puede culminar en el establecimiento de un modo diferente de entender y ejercer el gobierno en la Iglesia del futuro. Todo dependerá, en el fondo, del rigor y la coherencia que toda la Iglesia sea capaz de poner en su logro.\r\n\r\nLa opinión pública internacional denunció, de modo inmisericorde, la hipócrita actitud de muchos líderes religiosos —obispos— y de muchos responsables de varios organismos de gobierno en el Vaticano. Yo mismo he levantado, desde hace mucho tiempo, mi voz crítica frente a este verdadero «culto sacrílego».\r\n\r\nSi uno es objetivo, ha de expresar que no todo lo ocurrido en esta cumbre episcopal fue oro puro. Hubo mucha apariencia, mucho afán de crear una imagen no correspondiente con la realidad, demasiado «gatopardismo», poca escucha a las víctimas y a sus propuestas —decepcionadas—, no atreverse, ocultar de nuevo aspectos esenciales de la verdad de lo ocurrido, no haberla pensado ni organizado de forma tal que los presidentes fueran los verdaderos protagonistas de su quehacer, no haber abordado la aprobación de medida alguna —no normativo—.\r\n\r\n
