Multifractal theory was introduced by theoretical physicists in 1986. Since then, multifractals have increasingly been studied by mathematicians. This new work presents the latest research on random results on random multifractals and the physical thermodynamical interpretation of these results. As the amount of work in this area increases, Lars Olsen presents a unifying approach to current multifractal theory. Featuring high quality, original research material, this important new book fills a gap in the current literature available, providing a rigorous mathematical treatment of multifractal measures.

The main focus of this book is the exploration of the geometric and dynamic properties of a far reaching generalization of a conformal iterated function system - a Graph Directed Markov System. These systems are very robust in that they apply to many settings that do not fit into the scheme of conformal iterated systems. The basic theory is laid out here and the authors have touched on many natural questions arising in its context. However, they also emphasise the many issues and current research topics which can be found in original papers. For example the detailed analysis of the structure of harmonic measures of limit sets, the examination of the doubling property of conformal measures, the extensive study of generalized polynomial like mapping or multifractal analysis of geometrically finite Kleinian groups. This book leads readers onto frontier research in the field, making it ideal for both established researchers and graduate students.

Fractal Geometry And Stochastics written by Christoph Bandt and has been published by Birkhäuser this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-11-27 with Mathematics categories.

Fractal geometry is a new and promising field for researchers from different disciplines such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and medicine. It is used to model complicated natural and technical phenomena. The most convincing models contain an element of randomness so that the combination of fractal geometry and stochastics arises in between these two fields. It contains contributions by outstanding mathematicians and is meant to highlight the principal directions of research in the area. The contributors were the main speakers attending the conference "Fractal Geometry and Stochastics" held at Finsterbergen, Germany, in June 1994. This was the first international conference ever to be held on the topic. The book is addressed to mathematicians and other scientists who are interested in the mathematical theory concerning: • Fractal sets and measures • Iterated function systems • Random fractals • Fractals and dynamical systems, and • Harmonic analysis on fractals. The reader will be introduced to the most recent results in these subjects. Researchers and graduate students alike will benefit from the clear expositions.

The second conference on Fractal Geometry and Stochastics was held at Greifs wald/Koserow, Germany from August 28 to September 2, 1998. Four years had passed after the first conference with this theme and during this period the interest in the subject had rapidly increased. More than one hundred mathematicians from twenty-two countries attended the second conference and most of them presented their newest results. Since it is impossible to collect all these contributions in a book of moderate size we decided to ask the 13 main speakers to write an account of their subject of interest. The corresponding articles are gathered in this volume. Many of them combine a sketch of the historical development with a thorough discussion of the most recent results of the fields considered. We believe that these surveys are of benefit to the readers who want to be introduced to the subject as well as to the specialists. We also think that this book reflects the main directions of research in this thriving area of mathematics. We express our gratitude to the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft whose financial support enabled us to organize the conference. The Editors Introduction Fractal geometry deals with geometric objects that show a high degree of irregu larity on all levels of magnitude and, therefore, cannot be investigated by methods of classical geometry but, nevertheless, are interesting models for phenomena in physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy and other sciences.

Although multifractals are rooted in probability, much of the related literature comes from the physics and mathematics arena. Multifractals: Theory and Applications pulls together ideas from both these areas using a language that makes them accessible and useful to statistical scientists. It provides a framework, in particular, for the evaluation

Localization And Sheaves written by Jara Pascual and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995-11-30 with Mathematics categories.

This book completely solves the problem of representing rings (and modules over them), which are locally noetherian over subsets of their prime spectrum by structure sheaves over this subset. In order to realise this, one has to develop the necessary localization theory as well as to study local equivalents of familiar concepts like the Artin-Rees property, Ore sets and the second layer condition. The first part of the book is introductory and self-contained, and might serve as a starting course (at graduate level) on localization theory within Grothendieck categories. The second part is more specialised and provides the basic machinery needed to effectively these structure sheaves, as well as to study their functorial behaviour. In this way, the book should be viewed as a first introduction to what should be called relative noncommutative algebraic geometry.

Solution Sets Of Differential Equations In Abstract Spaces written by Robert Dragoni and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1996-04-03 with Mathematics categories.

This book presents results on the geometric/topological structure of the solution set S of an initial-value problem x(t) = f(t, x(t)), x(0) =xo, when f is a continuous function with values in an infinite-dimensional space. A comprehensive survey of existence results and the properties of S, e.g. when S is a connected set, a retract, an acyclic set, is presented. The authors also survey results onthe properties of S for initial-value problems involving differential inclusions, and for boundary-value problems. This book will be of particular interest to researchers in ordinary and partial differential equations and some workers in control theory.

Integral Representations For Spatial Models Of Mathematical Physics written by Vladislav V Kravchenko and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-11-25 with Mathematics categories.

This book provides a new mathematical theory for the treatment of an ample series of spatial problems of electrodynamics, particle physics, quantum mechanics and elasticity theory. This technique proves to be as powerful for solving the spatial problems of mathematical physics as complex analysis is for solving planar problems. The main analytic tool of the book, a non-harmonic version of hypercomplex analysis recently developed by the authors, is presented in detail. There are given applications of this theory to the boundary value problems of electrodynamics and elasticity theory as well as to the problem of quark confinement. A new approach to the linearization of special classes of the self-duality equation is also considered. Detailed proofs are given throughout. The book contains an extensive bibliography on closely related topics. This book will be of particular interest to academic and professional specialists and students in mathematics and physics who are interested in integral representations for partial differential equations. The book is self-contained and could be used as a main reference for special course seminars on the subject.
