What can your organization gain by adopting HTTP/2? How about faster, simpler, and more robust websites and applications? This practical guide demonstrates how the latest version of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol can dramatically improve website and application performance. You’ll take a deep dive into HTTP/2 details, and learn how this updated protocol is changing the web landscape. HTTP/1.1 has been the primary means of communicating data across the web for the past 20 years, but the level of interaction today has gone well beyond what people envisioned in 1997. With this book, authors Stephen Ludin and Javier Garza show you how HTTP/2 will help speed the execution of modern sites and applications. With this book, you’ll explore: Performance challenges that led to the HTTP upgrade HTTP/2 in a nutshell, including benefits and transition methods Existing best practices and hacks to improve web performance HTTP/2 support for browsers, servers, proxies, and content delivery networks How the performance of sites using HTTP/2 compares to their HTTP/1.1 experience HTTP/2’s effect on specific issues such as latency, packet loss, and Time to First Byte (TTFB) HTTP/2’s effect on specific issues such as latency, packet loss, and Time to First Byte (TTFB)

th This volume contains the papers presented at the 13 International Conference on Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management (EKAW 2002) held in Sig enza, Spain, October 1-4, 2002. Papers were invited on topics related to Knowledge Acquisition, Knowledge Management, Ontologies, and the Semantic Web. A total of 110 papers were submitted. Each submission was evaluated by at least two reviewers. The selection process has resulted in the acceptance of 20 long and 14 short papers for publication and presentation at the conference; an acceptance rate of about 30%. In addition, one invited paper by a keynote speaker is included. This volume contains 8 papers on Knowledge Acquisition, 4 about Knowledge Management, 16 on Ontologies, and 6 papers about the Semantic Web. This was the second time (EKAW 2000 being the first) that the event was organized as a conference rather than as the usual workshop (hence the acronym: European Knowledge Acquisition Workshop). The large number of submissions (110 versus the usual 40-60) is an indication that the scientific community values EKAW as an important event to share experiences in the Knowledge Technology area, worthy of being organized as a prestigious international conference. Knowledge is the fuel of the upcoming Knowledge Economy. Therefore, we believe that conferences such as EKAW, that focus on Knowledge Technologies, will continue to play a major role as a platform for sharing and exchanging experiences and knowledge between key players in the area.

This edited volume encompasses chapters on novel and innovative research in the applications of leading digital technologies in an accessible and engaging way. By utilising cutting edge and ever progressive technology in visualization, it will enhance our understanding and application in our everyday lives. This volume shows how we can use Extended Reality, 3D animations and serious games to benefit the learner, educator, clinician, patient, parent and carer. Visualization techniques like Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality and show how they can be utilised to improve training and understanding of anatomy, surgery, and clinical assessment. This is covered specifically for emergency practitioners in enhancing their understanding of ECG’s for potential myocardial infarction by using augmented reality. From a translational medicine perspective and pre-operative pediatric surgical planning, the benefits of augmented reality are examined as to what might be found intra-operatively from imaging techniques. Educational applications of digital technologies using serious games and Extended Reality are examined. We show how Mixed Reality can aid understanding in cellular anatomy for our learners and researchers alike. We also show how serious games can have applications in diverse areas like parasite infections and neuroanatomy education and training. Finally, from a clinical perspective, the use of 3D animations and their applications is discussed for vertebral fractures and increasing parent/carer awareness through interactive applications. Also, the use of 3D animations in cerebral magnetic resonance angiography for global education highlights the great benefits of these tools and technologies. There is something for the researcher, clinician, educator, patient, and carer as we explore novel technologies. These are applied locally, nationally and globally as we advance our understanding of the world changing influence that digital technologies have on our day-to-day life.

The major themes can be divided into the broad categories of hardware, software, algorithms and applications for parallel computing. The objective of Euro-Par is to provide a forum within which to promote the development of parallel computing both as an industrial technique and an academic discipline, extending the frontier of both the state of the art and the state of the practice. This is particularly - portant at a time when parallel computing is undergoing strong and sustained development and experiencing real industrial take-up. The main audience for, and participants at, Euro-Par are seen as researchers in academic departments, government laboratories and industrial organizations. Euro-Par’s objective is to be the primary choice of such professionals for the presentation of new - sults in their speci?c areas. Euro-Par also targets applications demonstrating the e?ectiveness of parallelism. This year’s Euro-Par conference was the tenth in the conference series. The previous Euro-Par conferences took place in Sto- holm, Lyon, Passau, Southampton, Toulouse, Munich, Manchester, Paderborn and Klagenfurt. Next year the conference will take place in Lisbon. Within the last few years Data Warehousing and Knowledge Discovery technology has established itself as a key technology for enterprises that wish to improve the quality of the results obtained from data analysis, decision support, and the automatic extraction of knowledge from data. The Fourth International Conference on Data Warehousing and Knowledge Discovery (DaWaK 2002) continues a series of successful conferences dedicated to this topic. Its main objective is to bring together researchers and practitioners to discuss research issues and experience in developing and deploying data warehousing and knowledge discovery systems, applications, and solutions. The conference focuses on the logical and physical design of data warehousing and knowledge discovery systems. The scope of the papers covers the most recent and relevant topics in the areas of association rules, clustering, Web mining, security, data mining techniques, data cleansing, applications, data warehouse design and maintenance, and OLAP. These proceedings contain the technical papers selected for presentation at the conference. We received more than 100 papers from over 20 countries, and the program committee finally selected 32 papers. The conference program included one invited talk: “Text Mining Applications of a Shallow Parser” by Walter Daelemans, Univer- ty of Antwerp, Belgium. We would like to thank the DEXA 2002 Workshop General Chair (Roland Wagner) th and the organizing committee of the 13 International Conference on Database and Expert Systems Applications (DEXA 2002) for their support and their cooperation.
