Diving deep into the intricate world of Remotely Piloted Aircrafts (RPAs), Commander John "Hawkeye" Mitchell paints a vivid canvas of aerial warfare in the 21st century in "The Reaper's Flight". Tracing the legacy of aviation—from the first unmanned crafts to the technologically superior drones of today—Mitchell's detailed expositions shed light on the myriad developments and strategic shifts. Amidst the backdrop of an evolving military landscape, Mitchell's narrative is punctuated with personal anecdotes from his illustrious career, spanning covert operations in the Middle East to high-stake surveillance missions in Asia. But, much like the analytical dissections of grand empires of yesteryears, Mitchell delves deeper, probing the ethics of remote warfare. He questions, with a critical lens, the paradoxical relationship between man and machine, and the emotional cost of waging war from a distance. Drawing from a reservoir of classified missions, operational details, and personal experiences, Mitchell’s voice emerges as one deeply informed yet continually inquisitive. He navigates the reader through the labyrinth of global geopolitics, highlighting the nuanced challenges faced by RPAs, their transformative impact on modern warfare, and the potential trajectory of their evolution. "The Reaper's Flight" isn't just an account—it's an exploration. One that not only chronicles the changing face of warfare but also underscores the lessons, pitfalls, and the uncharted potential of what lies ahead in the domain of remote aviation. Through Mitchell's eyes, we are offered a unique vantage point—a glimpse into the past, a reflection on the present, and a vision for the future of warfare.

Book One of the Chronicles of Aesirium: What if Death wore a pretty black dress? Everyone in Oldtown had heard talk of the Reapers. Even though nobody had seen one in years, everyone whispered the tales: flying from rooftop to rooftop, stealing the souls of the unwary, letting their undead beasts hunt through the streets for any member of the community too reckless or fearless to heed the nightly curfew ... mysterious and terrifying, most feared to even mention them by name, lest they appear and gather your spirit away. For 11-year-old Romany, her greatest fears were less about the mythological Reapers and more about surviving a miserable life inside of Oldtown's solitary orphanage. Her stark white hair made her an obvious target for the bullies, and the cruel nickname of "Ratgirl" had followed her for years. But if Rom thought her troubles were behind her, being struck dead by a bolt of lightning would only open the door to an entire life of new ones.First on the list? Finding out that she herself...is a Reaper.A lightly steampunk science fiction/fantasy series, Chronicles of Aesirium is the prequel series to "Tales of the Dead Man".

The Pursuit Of Technological Superiority And The Shrinking American Military written by Daniel R. Lake and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-01-22 with Political Science categories.

Why has the US military begun to suffer from overstretch in recent decades? Why is one of the largest militaries in the world, and the most expensive by far, periodically stressed by the operational demands placed upon it? This book argues that recent problems with overstretch are the result of a heavy reliance on technology to solve tactical and strategic problems. Over the last seven decades, the US armed services have consistently chosen to push the technological frontier out in an effort to first gain, and then maintain, qualitative superiority over potential foes. The high procurement and support costs associated with cutting-edge weapon systems has resulted in a military that is shrinking in both absolute size and in the relative share of combat forces. The culmination of this process is a US military that increasingly lacks the capacity needed to conduct operations without putting significant stress on its personnel and equipment. Lake argues that this pattern is a manifestation of an American cultural disposition favoring technology. He shows that this affinity for technology is present in the organizational cultures of all the armed services, though not to the same degree. By examining procurement programs for each armed service, this book reveals how attempts to develop and leverage superior technology has resulted in some notable program failures, high procurement costs for the latest generation of equipment with associated production cuts, and the high support requirements that are causing the relative share of combat forces to shrink. Lake’s analysis of recent initiatives by the armed services suggests that this pattern is likely to continue, with the US military remaining prone to overstretch whenever its operational tempo increases above the peacetime baseline.

The global economic effect is crippling; countries struggle to manage commerce, international trade, business growth, job creation and tourism. The world's economy is on the brink of collapse. The Global Defense Organization TM (GDO) has been created to be a cost effective multinational elite group that monitors, infiltrates and eliminates terrorist activities within all supporting countries. Known only as Reaper Two-Six TM, this secret 48 member squadron has quickly earned a reputation for precisely eliminating terrorist threats, in the air and on the ground. Why did China and Columbia oppose the creation of the GDO? Are they connected to global terrorist cells? Are they secretly financing the sale of weapons? The Reaper's greatest challenge is now upon them; infiltrate China and Columbia to discover their real intentions. Through a series of electrifying and heart-stopping missions, see how the Reapers use their skills and advanced technology to put fear back where it belongs, in the minds of the terrorists, not in the minds of its citizens.
