Relational Well Being In Policy Implementation In Mexico written by Viviana Ramírez and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-08-21 with Political Science categories.

This book provides key insights into the nature of officer–recipient relationships and shows how they have non-negligible impacts on the way recipients feel and think about themselves and their lives using mixed methods and subjective and psychosocial well-being approaches. The importance of placing well-being at the heart of policy is widely accepted. Yet, it is far less clear how this can be translated into practice. Discussion has tended to focus on the outcomes of policy and particularly on the metrics to assess well-being. While these are important debates, they can obscure an equally vital dimension: the processes of policies and the effect that implementation can have on the experiences – and ultimately well-being outcomes – of the recipients. This is the subject matter of this book. By taking the world-renowned case of the Oportunidades-Prospera conditional cash transfer programme in Mexico, it provides an in-depth account of interactions between officers and recipients and how these influenced programme delivery and well-being outcomes. It particularly scrutinizes the implementation of the health conditionalities of Oportunidades-Prospera by physicians working in the health clinics of rural and indigenous localities.

A Common Good Approach To Development written by Mathias Nebel and has been published by Open Book Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-04-26 with Social Science categories.

This edited collection proposes a common good approach to development theory and practice. Rather than focusing on the outcomes or conditions of development, the contributors concentrate on the quality of development processes, suggesting that a common good dynamic is key in order to trigger development. Resulting from more than three years of research by an international group of over fifty scholars, the volume advocates for a modern understanding of the common good—rather than a theological or metaphysical good—in societies by emphasising the social practice of ‘commoning’ at its core. It suggests that the dynamic equilibrium of common goods in a society should be at the centre of development efforts. For this purpose, it develops a matrix of common good dynamics, accounting for how institutions, social norms and common practices interconnect by identifying five key drivers not only of development, but human development (agency, governance, justice, stability, humanity). Based on this matrix, the contributors suggest a possible metric for measuring the quality of these dynamics. The last section of the book highlights the possibilities enabled by this approach through a series of case studies. The concept of the common good has recently enjoyed a revival and inspired practitioners keen to look beyond the shortcomings of political and economic liberalism. This book builds on those efforts to think beyond the agenda of twentieth-century development policies, and will be of interest to those working in the fields of development, economics, sociology, philosophy and political science.

Well-Being as a Multidimensional Concept highlights the ways that culture and community influence concepts of wellness, the experience of well-being, and health outcomes. This book includes both theoretical conceptualizations and practice-based explorations from a multidisciplinary group of contributors, including distinguished, widely celebrated senior experts as well as emerging voices in the fields of health promotion, health research, clinical practice, community engagement, and health system policy. Using a social science approach, the contributors explore the interface among culture, community, and well-being in terms of theory and research frameworks; culture, community, and relationships; food; health systems; and collaboration, policy, messaging, and data. The chapters in this collection provide a broader understanding of well-being and its role as a culturally embedded and multidimensional concept. This collection furthers our ability to apprehend social and cultural constructs and dynamics that influence health and well-being and to better understand factors that contribute to or prevent health disparities.

Addressing Social Determinants Of Health Through Intersectoral Actions written by World Health Organization and has been published by Social Determinants of Health this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013 with Medical categories.

This document presents the main findings of a research project requested by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the WHO and the Ministry of Health of Mexico aimed at analyzing certain policy processes of intersectoral approaches in order to identify evidence sustaining the effectiveness of using a SDH approach to design public policies. First, key programs and policies identified were analysed. Preferentially, programs and policies that explicitly defined intersectoral actions to fulfill their goals were selected. Second, a literature review was conducted based on the following main subjects: papers analyzing an intersectoral approach, public policy analysis, economics of public policy, and the grey policy literature. Its main purpose was to design an analytical framework to assess how intersectoral public policies addressing SDH are designed. Third, semi-structured interviews were conducted to perform a qualitative analysis of the design and implementation process of the public policies selected, as well as their results. Five categories were used to analyze this information: 1) knowledge of the social determinants of health; 2) intersectoral governance; 3) leadership of the health sector; 4) evidence for decision-making; and 5) economic arguments for intersectoral public policy design and implementation.
