The time is the tenth century. The place is glorious Crdoba, capital of Moorish Al Andaluz where plots involve a coalition to arrest the despotism of El Mansur who is systematically despoiling their tolerant and cultured society to gain power and wealth. The coalition - self-named the Seers - includes a Caliphs wife, a Muslim merchant, the palace Chief Cook, a Jewish physician-diplomat, the Mother Superior of a Christian convent, a Moorish General, a Court poet and young woman slave. Seers machinations include assassinations, sabotage, spying and - naturally - love. It could have happened, since some characters were historical.

American Requiem offers a penetrating expose of the corruption, lying, cheating and self-dealing that pervades our government at all levels. The text presents a collection of essays chronicling the disastrous actions of Obama, the treasonous attempts to destroy Trump and the demonstrably stupid, but intentionally destructive policies of the Biden Administration, leading to socialism and catastrophe. A must read for all concerned Americans.

CRAZY FEASTS is a culinary history cookbook that includes descriptions of ten banquets that were quite crazy or bizarre in several senses. Each feast is preceded by a short description of the location and historical setting in order to give a background for the dishes served, as well as for the particular kind of craziness involved. The feasts vary in historical depth from the Roman Empire period to the first decades of the twenty-first century. The locations include cities from Rome to other European capitals, as well as Mexico City, when it was called Tenochtitlan as the Spanish conquistadores entered it in the early sixteenth century. Each feast described was either an actual historical incident, or is an imagined banquet that could well have occurred given the culture and habits of the time. Each feast described is followed by recipes garnered from that culture and historical period. CRAZY FEASTS is a salute to human folly and the happy circumstances of glorious banquets meant to stimulate your sense of fun and folly should you decide to create a crazy feast of your own.

The impact of events in Nazi Germany and Europe during World War II was keenly felt in neutral Argentina among its predominantly Catholic population and its significant Jewish minority. The Catholic Church and the Jews, Argentina, 1933-1945 considers the images of Jews presented in standard Catholic teaching of that era, the attitudes of the lower clergy and faithful toward the country?s Jewish citizens, and the response of the politically influential Church hierarchy to the national debate on accepting Jewish refugees from Europe. The issue was complicated by such factors as the position taken by the Vatican, Argentina?s unstable political situation, and the sizeable number of citizens of German origin who were Nazi sympathizers eager to promote German interests. ø Argentina?s self-perception was as a ?Catholic? country. Though there were few overtly anti-Jewish acts, traditional stereotypes and prejudice were widespread and only a few voices in the Catholic community confronted the established attitudes. ø

*Includes pictures *Includes online resources and a bibliography for further reading "To Córdoba belong all the beauty and ornaments that delight the eye or dazzle the sight. Her long line of Sultans form her crown of glory; her necklace is strung with the pearls which her poets have gathered from the ocean of language; her dress is of the banners of learning, well-knit together by her men of science; and the masters of every art and industry are the hem of her garments..." - Stanley Lane-Poole, "The Moors in Spain" The Calle Cardenal Herrero in Córdoba is an iconic cobbled street impossible to overlook, for it is home to the Andalusian city's spectacular Mosque-Cathedral. Also known as "La Mezquita," this one-of-a-kind Moorish and Christian place of worship reels in about 1.5 million visitors each year, most of whom find themselves spellbound by its hypnotic architectural features and the riveting history that has transpired and continues to within the beautifully weathered walls of the dual-church. That said, the Mezquita is far more than a mere tourist attraction - in recent years, the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba has become the crux of a complicated religious conflict resurrected by impassioned worshipers and patriotic locals who fear not only for the future of its legacy, but the preservation of its true history. It is easy for those on the outside looking in to make hasty judgments about the ongoing dispute, considering the endless amount of information that is uploaded online by the second. The contentious debates surrounding the Mezquita are often products of outdated prejudices, festering distrust, and whitewashing, all of which make it harder for the Mezquita to remain a non-discriminatory space serviceable to and appreciated by everyone today. The Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba: The History and Legacy of the Moors' Greatest Holy Site in Spain offers a virtual tour of this priceless place of worship, and how it has been at the center of religious debates for hundreds of years. Along with pictures of important people, places, and events, you will learn about the Mezquita like never before.
