A book titled “The Five Dimension Space-Time Universe: A creation and grand unified field theory model” was published by Scientific Research Publishing, USA in 2014. Since then, two more friends, Professors Fung and Chow joined the effort. Many more articles with rigorous mathematical foundation extensions were published, including solving for the first time the explicit form of the Maxwell’s magnetic monopoles. It is then clear why there must be a Bose-Einstein vacuum as suggested by Higgs, and all matters can be considered as thermal excitations from it. In fact, the theory works extremely well from astronomical objects, like stars and planets to the precise calculated mass for the proton and neutron, leading to revelation of a precise quark mass of 33 MeV. A first implication that a General Musical Code might exist in the 5D homogenous space-time manifold. Perhaps the most insightful is that the 4th space dimension within the 5D homogenous manifold is actually an entangled variable to the Fermat’s amplitude ‘r’, according to Euler Theorem on 5D manifold. One important consequence is that in the Fourier energy and momentum representation, the 4th momentum variable is completely imaginary. Such a result leads to the emergence of the Higgs bosons, with a primordial spectrum. Based on the crucial steps of deduction briefly outlined above, the current book is written.

Brain oscillations, or neural rhythms, reflect widespread functional connections between large-scale neural networks, as well as within cortical networks. As such they have been related to many aspects of human behaviour. An increasing number of studies have demonstrated the role of brain oscillations at distinct frequency bands in cognitive, sensory and motor tasks. Consequentially, those rhythms also affect diverse aspects of human communication. On the one hand, this comprises verbal communication; a field where the understanding of neural mechanisms has seen huge advances in recent years. Speech is inherently organised in a rhythmic manner. For example, time scales of phonemes and syllables, but also formal prosodic aspects such as intonation and stress, fall into distinct frequency bands. Likewise, neural rhythms in the brain play a role in speech segmentation and coding of continuous speech at multiple time scales, as well as in the production of speech. On the other hand, human communication involves widespread and diverse nonverbal aspects where the role of neural rhythms is far less understood. This can be the enhancement of speech processing through visual signals, thought to be guided via brain oscillations, or the conveying of emotion, which results in differential rhythmic modulations in the observer. Additionally, body movements and gestures often have a communicative purpose and are known to modulate sensorimotor rhythms in the observer. This Research Topic of Frontiers in Human Neuroscience highlights the diverse aspects of human communication that are shaped by rhythmic activity in the brain. Circadian rhythms are biological processes displaying endogenous and entrainable oscillations of about 24 hours. They are driven by a group of genes called clock genes that have been widely observed in plants, animals and even in bacteria. In mammals, the core clock genes are rhythmically expressed in both the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), the master clock residing in the hypothalamus, and almost all peripheral tissues where they control numerous target genes in a circadian manner, and thus affect many physiological and biochemical processes. Evidence suggests that disruption of the circadian rhythms (or desynchronization) is a significant risk factor for the development of metabolic diseases, cardiovascular diseases, cancer and sleep disorders. Evidence also suggests that the disruption suppresses immune function and increases vulnerability to infectious diseases. Restoring or strengthening the circadian rhythm may be therapeutic for these conditions. This becomes exceptionally important in modern societies because many people are suffering from frequent desynchronization due to shift working, exposure to artificial light, travel by transmeridian air flight, and involvement in social activities. Besides, the temporal variations in the incidence and severity of many diseases, such as the onset of cardiovascular events, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), inflammatory diseases and mental disorders have also drawn increasing attention to the circadian clock. The circadian rhythms affect not only the health status, but also the drug efficiency. The effects (and side effects) of many drugs vary with biological timing. The tolerance of many medications displays circadian variation as well. The timing of medical treatment in coordination with the body clock may significantly increase the desired effects of drugs, and lower the dose and toxicity. In addition, circadian rhythms can also be modulated by some therapeutic drugs, for example, melatonin and modafinil, which are used to treat circadian rhythm sleep disorders. In this Research Topic, we assemble a series of critical review and research articles that focus on the therapeutic implications of circadian rhythms. Biological traits and diseases tend to be very complex. Time is an aspect that deserves particular attention to study and decipher biological traits and disease mechanisms: many processes including biological rhythms, neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative mechanisms, and aging have a time-dependent trajectory. Biological rhythms, such as circadian rhythms are a reflection of biological processes over 24 hours. In the case of developmental and aging processes, they reflect biological activities over a much longer time scale, typically across years or even decades. In recent years these research fields have been cross-fertilizing each other. Examples include apparent alterations of circadian regulation in adult and aging individuals and a potential link between circadian disruption and Autism Spectrum Disorders, Alzheimer’s Disease, and Major Depressive Disorder. Recent research aimed at decoding these time-related complexities has led to the implementation and utilization of various -omics methods. Transcriptomics and proteomics have matured into “standard” methods for profiling expression changes on a large scale across different time points. Single-cell sequencing technology will gain popularity for decoding cell-type diversity. With regard to data analysis, the identification of differentially expressed genes and proteins across time is of great interest. Granted, there are also topic-specific methods too. For circadian rhythm research, molecules that show rhythmic activity signals are of prime interest, whereas for life span studies the major focus is the identification of genes whose expression changes over long time periods. These topic-specific research methods can greatly benefit from each other’s expertise.
