This book presents a systematic exposition of the various applications of closure operations in commutative and noncommutative algebra. In addition to further advancing multiplicative ideal theory, the book opens doors to the various uses of closure operations in the study of rings and modules, with emphasis on commutative rings and ideals. Several examples, counterexamples, and exercises further enrich the discussion and lend additional flexibility to the way in which the book is used, i.e., monograph or textbook for advanced topics courses.

This volume presents a collection of articles highlighting recent developments in commutative algebra and related non-commutative generalizations. It also includes an extensive bibliography and lists a substantial number of open problems that point to future directions of research in the represented subfields. The contributions cover areas in commutative algebra that have flourished in the last few decades and are not yet well represented in book form. Highlighted topics and research methods include Noetherian and non-Noetherian ring theory, module theory and integer-valued polynomials along with connections to algebraic number theory, algebraic geometry, topology and homological algebra. Most of the eighteen contributions are authored by attendees of the two conferences in commutative algebra that were held in the summer of 2016: “Recent Advances in Commutative Ring and Module Theory,” Bressanone, Italy; “Conference on Rings and Polynomials” Graz, Austria. There is also a small collection of invited articles authored by experts in the area who could not attend either of the conferences. Following the model of the talks given at these conferences, the volume contains a number of comprehensive survey papers along with related research articles featuring recent results that have not yet been published elsewhere.

Ideal Theory Of Commutative Rings And Monoids written by Franz Halter-Koch and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-06-14 with Mathematics categories.
This book offers a concise treatment of multiplicative ideal theory in the language of multiplicative monoids. It presents a systematic development of the theory of weak ideal systems and weak module systems on arbitrary commutative monoids. Examples of monoids that are investigated include, but are not limited to, Mori monoids, Laskerian monoids, Prüfer monoids and Krull monoids. An in-depth study of various constructions from ring theory is also provided, with an emphasis on polynomial rings, Kronecker function rings and Nagata rings. The target audience is graduate students and researchers in ring and semigroup theory.

This book contains select papers on rings, monoids and module theory which are presented at the 3rd International Conference on Mathematics and Statistics (AUS-ICMS 2020) held at the American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, from 6–9 February 2020. This conference was held in honour of the work of the distinguished algebraist Daniel D. Anderson. Many participants and colleagues from around the world felt it appropriate to acknowledge his broad and sweeping contributions to research in algebra by writing an edited volume in his honor. The topics covered are, inevitably, a cross-section of the vast expansion of modern algebra. The book is divided into two sections—surveys and recent research developments—with each section hopefully offering symbiotic utility to the reader. The book contains a balanced mix of survey papers, which will enable expert and non-expert alike to get a good overview of developments across a range of areas of algebra. The book is expected to be of interest to both beginning graduate students and experienced researchers.

This proceedings volume gathers a selection of cutting-edge research in both commutative and non-commutative ring theory and factorization theory. The papers were presented at the Conference on Rings and Factorization held at the University of Graz, Austria, July 10–14, 2023. The volume covers a wide range of topics including multiplicative ideal theory, Dedekind, Prüfer, Krull, and Mori rings, non-commutative rings and algebras, rings of integer-valued polynomials, topological aspects in ring theory, factorization theory in rings and semigroups, and direct-sum decomposition of modules. The conference also featured two special sessions dedicated to Matej Brešar and Sophie Frisch on the occasion of their 60th birthdays. This volume is aimed at graduate students and researchers in these areas as well as related fields and provides new insights into both classical and contemporary research in ring and factorization theory.

This is the second of two volumes of a state-of-the-art survey article collection which originates from three commutative algebra sessions at the 2009 Fall Southeastern American Mathematical Society Meeting at Florida Atlantic University. The articles reach into diverse areas of commutative algebra and build a bridge between Noetherian and non-Noetherian commutative algebra. These volumes present current trends in two of the most active areas of commutative algebra: non-noetherian rings (factorization, ideal theory, integrality), and noetherian rings (the local theory, graded situation, and interactions with combinatorics and geometry). This volume contains surveys on aspects of closure operations, finiteness conditions and factorization. Closure operations on ideals and modules are a bridge between noetherian and nonnoetherian commutative algebra. It contains a nice guide to closure operations by Epstein, but also contains an article on test ideals by Schwede and Tucker and one by Enescu which discusses the action of the Frobenius on finite dimensional vector spaces both of which are related to tight closure. Finiteness properties of rings and modules or the lack of them come up in all aspects of commutative algebra. However, in the study of non-noetherian rings it is much easier to find a ring having a finite number of prime ideals. The editors have included papers by Boynton and Sather-Wagstaff and by Watkins that discuss the relationship of rings with finite Krull dimension and their finite extensions. Finiteness properties in commutative group rings are discussed in Glaz and Schwarz's paper. And Olberding's selection presents us with constructions that produce rings whose integral closure in their field of fractions is not finitely generated. The final three papers in this volume investigate factorization in a broad sense. The first paper by Celikbas and Eubanks-Turner discusses the partially ordered set of prime ideals of the projective line over the integers. The editors have also included a paper on zero divisor graphs by Coykendall, Sather-Wagstaff, Sheppardson and Spiroff. The final paper, by Chapman and Krause, concerns non-unique factorization.

This new book can be read independently from the first volume and may be used for lecturing, seminar- and self-study, or for general reference. It focuses more on specific topics in order to introduce readers to a wealth of basic and useful ideas without the hindrance of heavy machinery or undue abstractions. User-friendly with its abundance of examples illustrating the theory at virtually every step, the volume contains a large number of carefully chosen exercises to provide newcomers with practice, while offering a rich additional source of information to experts. A direct approach is used in order to present the material in an efficient and economic way, thereby introducing readers to a considerable amount of interesting ring theory without being dragged through endless preparatory material.

Algebraic Number Theoretic And Topological Aspects Of Ring Theory written by Jean-Luc Chabert and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-07-07 with Mathematics categories.
This volume has been curated from two sources: presentations from the Conference on Rings and Polynomials, Technische Universität Graz, Graz, Austria, July 19 –24, 2021, and papers intended for presentation at the Fourth International Meeting on Integer-valued Polynomials and Related Topics, CIRM, Luminy, France, which was cancelled due to the pandemic. The collection ranges widely over the algebraic, number theoretic and topological aspects of rings, algebras and polynomials. Two areas of particular note are topological methods in ring theory, and integer valued polynomials. The book is dedicated to the memory of Paul-Jean Cahen, a coauthor or research collaborator with some of the conference participants and a friend to many of the others. This collection contains a memorial article about Paul-Jean Cahen, written by his longtime research collaborator and coauthor Jean-Luc Chabert.
