Was ein Mensch in einer Depression alles durchmacht und wie er sich fühlt, wird in dieser Arbeit anhand einer Literaturrecherche und an einem Fallbeispiel aufgezeigt. Ebenso wurde ein Interview mit einem Betroffenen und seinem Angehörigen durchgeführt. Die Depression, deren Ursachen, Symptome sowie Therapiemöglichkeiten und das Thema „Suizid“ wird zum besseren Verständnis beschrieben. Es wird den Fragen nach-gegangen, was Angehörige für ihren depressiven Menschen Gutes tun können und welche Ratschläge Personen im Umgang mit einem Depressiven meiden sollen. Weitere Ziele sind Hilfsangebote für Angehörige sowie die Selbstpflege. Im Interview wurde klar beschrieben, dass die Familie für den Depressiven das Wichtigste ist. Da die Angehörigen jedoch oft vergessen werden und alleine dastehen, wird ausführlich eingegangen, wie sie ihm gut und vor allem richtig helfen können. Von den verbalen Möglichkeiten bis hin zu Bäder ist alles enthalten. Eine wichtige Richtung für die Zukunft wäre die Selbstpflege für Angehörige. Die Informationen wurden leider nur in einer Broschüre gefunden. In den meisten Büchern wurde sie leider nicht beschrieben.
