Anni Daulter has teamed up with Jessica Booth and Jessica Smithson, who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the narrative. The practical tips and creative ideas presented here put readers back in touch with simple time-tested practices that bring wholeness and wellbeing out of the cupboard. When life deals you a particularly difficult blow or a staggering loss, how do you handle it? If you’re like most, you might think Why me?, struggle to find your way, or lash out at those around you. But there are a select few who seem emotionally hardier, who are able to face life’s physical, emotional, and financial hits undeterred and perhaps even forge ahead, empowered in the face of adversity. These people aren’t more deserving or luckier than the rest of us; they simply think differently–they are connected with their steady inner self and find strength where others might see meaninglessness; they make life-affirming choices instead of defeatist ones. In short, they are spiritually bulletproof. They face as many of life’s slings and arrows as the rest of us, but they don’t succumb to hardship or misfortune. And you can be one of them. In The Secrets of the Bulletproof Spirit, renowned peace activist Azim Khamisa and inspirational speaker Jillian Quinn reveal the thirty essential keys to emotional and spiritual resiliency. Based upon their own experiences with heart-wrenching loss, the strategies they present may seem simple, but their advice can open up a whole new way of thinking. Khamisa and Quinn will help you discover • that your thoughts help to create your reality, and that you can use them to take control of your life • the potentially damaging mental routines you’re running on autopilot • the vital connections between your upbringing and your “resiliency quotient” • spiritually affirming thoughts that may help you make more spiritually empowering choices “What lies within you really is more powerful than any hit you may take physically, emotionally, or materially,” the authors write. With their help, readers will find themselves more confident and secure in a volatile and uncertain world. When you learn to identify most strongly with that invincible core–your bulletproof spirit–you tap into the truest source of security available to you. And while there’s no foolproof way to stay out of the proverbial line of fire, the information, inspiration, and tools in this book will provide you with an emotional bulletproof vest, a way to take hits and come out on top. The Aesthetics Of Atheism written by Kutter Callaway and has been published by Fortress Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-04-02 with Religion categories.

To really understand God, you have to understand atheism. Atheism and Christianity are often placed at polar opposite ends of a spectrum, forever in stark conflict with each other. In The Aesthetics of Atheism, Kutter Callaway and Barry Taylor propose a radical alternative: atheism and theism need each other. In fact, atheism offers profound and necessary theological insights into the heart of Christianity itself. To get at these truths, Callaway and Taylor dive into the aesthetic dimensions of atheism, using everything from Stranger Things to Damien Hirst's controversial sculptures to the music of David Bowie, Nick Cave, and Leonard Cohen. This journey through contemporary culture and its imagination offers readers a deeper understanding of theology, culture, and how to engage faith in a chaotic and complex world where God is present in the most unexpected place: atheism.

The semiotics discipline - a hybrid of communication science and anthropology - accounts for the deep cultural codes that structure communication and sociality, endow things with value, move us through constructed space, and moderate our encounters with change. Doing Semiotics shows readers how to leverage these codes to solve business problems, foster innovation, and create meaningful experiences for consumers. In addition to the key principles and methods of applied semiotics, it introduces the basics of branding, strategic decision-making, and cross-cultural marketing management. Through practical exercises, examples, extended team projects, and evaluation criteria, this book guides students through the application of learning to all phases of semiotics-based projects for communications, brand equity management, design strategy, new product development, and public policy management. In addition to tools for sorting data and mapping cultural dimensions of a market, it includes useful interview protocols for use in focus groups, in-depth interviews, and ethnographic studies, as well as expert case studies that will enable readers to apply semiotics to consumer research.

This story is about the development of my heroin addiction and my recovery from it. I struggled to escape from addiction for 17 years, but only succeeded after an ibogaine treatment. It is autobiographical, but I only describe traumatic episodes that contributed to addiction and sketch the highlights and milestones in my recovery. It is a memoir, as it offers a thematic view of my life and is moderate in scope; and a personal essay in which I offer insights about societys role in addiction. My intent is that addicts and their loved ones may better understand the nature of addiction so their approaches to treatment are better informed and more compassionate. At 66, I am a gentleman/hipster/Seeker and scholar, but Im not an armchair academic who wrote this book from a library: I was an addict for 22 years! Now I am blessed to be alive and have 18 years clean. My mission is to help addicts by educating the public and the professional community about addictions complexity and the efficacy of ibogaine for its treatment. I hope my story supports a change in social and medical attitudes so that the unheard voices of addicts will be honored, instead of just seeing them as social problems. Addiction put my life into suspended animation when I had a third of the credits I needed for a bachelors degree. 27 years later I returned to school; now I have bachelors degrees in Anthropology and Psychology and a Masters degree in East-West Psychology (EWP). I am currently a PhD. candidate in EWP at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, California.

Water Graves written by Valérie Loichot and has been published by University of Virginia Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-01-15 with Literary Criticism categories.

Water Graves considers representations of lives lost to water in contemporary poetry, fiction, theory, mixed-media art, video production, and underwater sculptures. From sunken slave ships to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Valérie Loichot investigates the lack of official funeral rites in the Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico, waters that constitute both early and contemporary sites of loss for the enslaved, the migrant, the refugee, and the destitute. Unritual, or the privation of ritual, Loichot argues, is a state more absolute than desecration. Desecration implies a previous sacred observance--a temple, a grave, a ceremony. Unritual, by contrast, denies the sacred from the beginning. In coastal Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, Miami, Haiti, Martinique, Cancun, and Trinidad and Tobago, the artists and writers featured in Water Graves—an eclectic cast that includes Beyoncé, Radcliffe Bailey, Edwidge Danticat, Édouard Glissant, M. NourbeSe Philip, Jason deCaires Taylor, Édouard Duval-Carrié, Natasha Trethewey, and Kara Walker, among others—are an archipelago connected by a history of the slave trade and environmental vulnerability. In addition to figuring death by drowning in the unritual—whether in the context of the aftermath of slavery or of ecological and human-made catastrophes—their aesthetic creations serve as memorials, dirges, tombstones, and even material supports for the regrowth of life underwater.
