Scattering theory is, roughly speaking, perturbation theory of self-adjoint operators on the (absolutely) continuous spectrum. It has its origin in mathematical problems of quantum mechanics and is intimately related to the theory of partial differential equations. Some recently solved problems, such as asymptotic completeness for the Schrödinger operator with long-range and multiparticle potentials, as well as open problems, are discussed. Potentials for which asymptotic completeness is violated are also constructed. This corresponds to a new class of asymptotic solutions of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. Special attention is paid to the properties of the scattering matrix, which is the main observable of the theory. The book is addressed to readers interested in a deeper study of the subject.

Measures With Symmetry Properties written by Werner Schindler and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-02-12 with Mathematics categories.
Symmetries and invariance principles play an important role in various branches of mathematics. This book deals with measures having weak symmetry properties. Even mild conditions ensure that all invariant Borel measures on a second countable locally compact space can be expressed as images of specific product measures under a fixed mapping. The results derived in this book are interesting for their own and, moreover, a number of carefully investigated examples underline and illustrate their usefulness and applicability for integration problems, stochastic simulations and statistical applications.

Characters And Cyclotomic Fields In Finite Geometry written by Bernhard Schmidt and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-10-13 with Mathematics categories.
This monograph contributes to the existence theory of difference sets, cyclic irreducible codes and similar objects. The new method of field descent for cyclotomic integers of presribed absolute value is developed. Applications include the first substantial progress towards the Circulant Hadamard Matrix Conjecture and Ryser`s conjecture since decades. It is shown that there is no Barker sequence of length l with 13

Noncommutative Gr Bner Bases And Filtered Graded Transfer written by Huishi Li and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-10-19 with Mathematics categories.
This self-contained monograph is the first to feature the intersection of the structure theory of noncommutative associative algebras and the algorithmic aspect of Groebner basis theory. A double filtered-graded transfer of data in using noncommutative Groebner bases leads to effective exploitation of the solutions to several structural-computational problems, e.g., an algorithmic recognition of quadric solvable polynomial algebras, computation of GK-dimension and multiplicity for modules, and elimination of variables in noncommutative setting. All topics included deal with algebras of (q-)differential operators as well as some other operator algebras, enveloping algebras of Lie algebras, typical quantum algebras, and many of their deformations.

Geometric Control And Numerical Aspects Of Nonholonomic Systems written by Jorge Cortés Monforte and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-10-19 with Mathematics categories.
Nonholonomic systems are a widespread topic in several scientific and commercial domains, including robotics, locomotion and space exploration. This work sheds new light on this interdisciplinary character through the investigation of a variety of aspects coming from several disciplines. The main aim is to illustrate the idea that a better understanding of the geometric structures of mechanical systems unveils new and unknown aspects to them, and helps both analysis and design to solve standing problems and identify new challenges. In this way, separate areas of research such as Classical Mechanics, Differential Geometry, Numerical Analysis or Control Theory are brought together in this study of nonholonomic systems.

Hp Finite Element Methods For Singular Perturbations written by Jens M. Melenk and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-10-19 with Mathematics categories.
Many partial differential equations arising in practice are parameter-dependent problems that are of singularly perturbed type. Prominent examples include plate and shell models for small thickness in solid mechanics, convection-diffusion problems in fluid mechanics, and equations arising in semi-conductor device modelling. Common features of these problems are layers and, in the case of non-smooth geometries, corner singularities. Mesh design principles for the efficient approximation of both features by the hp-version of the finite element method (hp-FEM) are proposed in this volume. For a class of singularly perturbed problems on polygonal domains, robust exponential convergence of the hp-FEM based on these mesh design principles is established rigorously.

Mixed Automorphic Forms Torus Bundles And Jacobi Forms written by Min Ho Lee and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-05-13 with Computers categories.
This volume deals with various topics around equivariant holomorphic maps of Hermitian symmetric domains and is intended for specialists in number theory and algebraic geometry. In particular, it contains a comprehensive exposition of mixed automorphic forms that has never yet appeared in book form. The main goal is to explore connections among complex torus bundles, mixed automorphic forms, and Jacobi forms associated to an equivariant holomorphic map. Both number-theoretic and algebro-geometric aspects of such connections and related topics are discussed.

Derived Functors In Functional Analysis written by Jochen Wengenroth and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-01-01 with Mathematics categories.
The text contains for the first time in book form the state of the art of homological methods in functional analysis like characterizations of the vanishing of the derived projective limit functor or the functors Ext1 (E, F) for Fréchet and more general spaces. The researcher in real and complex analysis finds powerful tools to solve surjectivity problems e.g. on spaces of distributions or to characterize the existence of solution operators. The requirements from homological algebra are minimized: all one needs is summarized on a few pages. The answers to several questions of V.P. Palamodov who invented homological methods in analysis also show the limits of the program.

Stability Estimates For Hybrid Coupled Domain Decomposition Methods written by Olaf Steinbach and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-03-10 with Computers categories.
Domain decomposition methods are a well established tool for an efficient numerical solution of partial differential equations, in particular for the coupling of different model equations and of different discretization methods. Based on the approximate solution of local boundary value problems either by finite or boundary element methods, the global problem is reduced to an operator equation on the skeleton of the domain decomposition. Different variational formulations then lead to hybrid domain decomposition methods.
