Digital transformation is a promising way to increase the possibilities and effectiveness of public organizations, but the implementation of digital technologies alone does not bring value. It is vital to convince and motivate people to use new ways of public services delivery and it is necessary to trust both public institutions and new technologies. Digital trust is considered a key determinant of acceptance of digital technologies, leading to their effective use and creation of innovative solutions. However, little is known about creating and using trust as a driving force of digital transformation. In this approach, trust is not only a motivating factor to use digital technologies but also a trigger for changes in the action strategy. In this book, trust is analyzed from this perspective. The authors present the importance of digital trust, as well as its evolving nature manifested along with the progress of digital transformation. Offering both theoretical and practical insights, this volume will add value to trust theory and digital governance theory by indicating the importance of organizational trust and the ways of its use in the development of public service delivery processes and performance based on digital transformation. It will be of interest to researchers, academics, professionals, and advanced students in the fields of public management, innovation, ethics, and organizational studies.

Anticipatory Governance Shaping A Responsible Future written by Melodena Stephens Balakrishnan and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-01-03 with Political Science categories.

Anticipatory Governance is the systemic process of future shaping built on the understanding that the future is not a continuation of the past or present, thus making foresight a complex task requiring the engagement of the whole of government with its constituents in a constructive and iterative manner to achieve collective intelligence. Effective anticipatory governance amplifies the fundamental properties of agile government to build trust, challenge assumptions, and reach consensus. Moreover, anticipatory governance sets the foundation to adapt to exponential change. This seismic shift in the governance environment should lead to urgent rethinking of the ways and means governments and large corporate players formulate strategies, design processes, develop human capital and shape instiutional culture to achieve public value. From a long-term multigenerational perspective, anticipatory governance is a key component to ensure guardrails for the future. Systems thinking is needed to harness our collective intelligence, by tapping into knowledge trapped within nations, organizations, and people. Many of the wicked problems governments and corporations are grappling with like artificial intelligence applications and ethics, climate change, refugee migration, education for future skills, and health care for all, require a 'system of systems', or anticipatory governance.Yet, no matter how much we invest in foresight and shaping the future, we still need an agile government approach to manage unintended outcomes and people's expectations. Crisis management which begins with listening to weak signals, sensemaking, intelligence management, reputation enhancement, and public value alignment and delivery, is critical. This book dives into the theory and practice of anticipatory governance and sets the agenda for future research.

Smart Sustainability Transformation Playbook written by Belinda Yuen and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-02-06 with Political Science categories.

The Smart Sustainability Transformation Playbook aims to demystify the socio-technical systems and processes of sustainability transitions through the study of 12 smart cities — Auckland, Boston, Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Medellin, Melbourne, Milan, Seoul, Tokyo, and Vancouver, selected from the IMD-SUTD 2021 Smart City Index. The selection encompasses a range of smart cities and developments on selected critical areas in economic prosperity, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability. The analysis draws on literature review, secondary data, interviews with city officials, and case studies of smart city projects in the 12 cities to better understand how people, organisations, and technologies interact to achieve the city's smart vision for sustainability. Attention is pivoted towards clarifying the characteristics and conditions that help smart cities formulate their visions and strategies on selected issues of economic prosperity, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability; unpacking the processes and outcomes of smart city innovations and transformations with case examples; developing a checklist of critical success factors and pitfalls when implementing smart city innovations; and consolidating a micro-foundation of good practices on success factors and pitfalls in smart city development for long-term change.

Social Modeling Using The I Framework written by Xavier Franch and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-11-30 with Computers categories.

This book is based on a symposium to celebrate Eric Yu, the inventor of the i* framework, held on the occasion of his retirement and collocated with the 31st IEEE International Requirements Engineering Conference. The notion of social modeling emerged in the mid-nineties as a powerful conceptual approach to intricately analyze and specify complex social ecosystems, wherein strategic actors collaborate and depend on each other in order to attain their goals. The i* framework was designed precisely for this purpose, rapidly establishing itself as the de facto standard in the requirements engineering and information systems communities. The invited chapters, which were all written by highly acclaimed researchers, aim to give testimony to the impact of Eric’s work during the last 30 years of research and practice in requirements engineering (RE) and at the same time reflect on current development as well as future prospects. The content of the book is structured into five sections, relative to the relationship of each chapter to the i* requirements modelling language. The first four sections cover retrospectives and reflections on i*, empirical research studies on i*, i* modelling language variants, and applications of i* to address open research challenges. The last section presents a chapter – written by Eric Yu himself – on a vision how i* could foster the transition towards a new RE paradigm, i.e., RE as Augmenting Aspiring Selves, a paradigm that should better fit with the needs of RE for AI-based systems. This compiled collection of retrospective, ongoing and forward-looking scholarly essays centered on the i* framework furnishes its readers with a holistic vision of social modeling through i*, encompassing its versatile applications across different domains, challenges, and scenarios.
