I have always thought that a poem does not have 'one' meaning. It can (and has to) have many: one for each and every reader. If it's so, what could be the meaning of the following verses?"/ Your eyes -Ethereal / Like butterfly wings./"Or : "Imagine how / Long was the night / And it broke into a day / Loaded with shadows -- ../"Or, again:"/ Where charcoal snow falls and freezes her heart, / With an occasional acid rain that melts her bones./"Following the method experimented with 'We Are The Words' and 'Whispers to the World', I've asked seven poets to send me a few of their poems, that I've translated into my native language, Italian, and I've added some of my own poems - both English and Italian text. But this time I have chosen to make this a handbook, for those who feel the desire to write poetry, but are held back by the fear (the panic) of the "blank page" --the fear of not being good enough to write verses.For this reason I have asked my friends Daniel Brick, Sandra Feldman and Pamela Sinicrope to comment on the poems, and also asked all the poets, to tell the readers how they -each of them- do write poetry.Then, if you have not started, do it now: write poetry.. Enjoy!~*~Ho sempre pensato che una poesia non abbia un solo significato. Può (e deve) averne molti: uno per ciascun lettore. Se è così, quale potrebbe essere il significato dei seguenti versi?"/ I tuoi occhi --Evanescenti / Come ali di farfalla./"O:"Immagina quanto / Lunga fu la notte / Ed esitò in un giorno / Carico di ombre --../"O, ancora:"/ Dove cade neve di carbone che le congela il cuore / E una sporadica pioggia acida le scioglie le ossa./"Seguendo il metodo sperimentato con "We Are The Words - Siamo Parole" e "Whispers to the World - Sussurri al Mondo", ho chiesto a sette poeti di inviarmi alcune delle loro poesie, che ho tradotto in Italiano. Ad esse ho aggiunto alcune delle mie - testo Inglese e Italiano. Ma questa volta ho scelto di fare dell'Antologia un piccolo manuale, per chi avverte il desiderio di scrivere poesia ma viene trattenuto dal timore (panico) della "pagina bianca" --ovvero dal timore di non essere abbastanza in gamba per scrivere versi.Per questo motivo ho chiesto agli amici Daniel Brick, Sandra Feldman e Pamela Sinicrope di commentare le poesie, ed ho invitato tutti i poeti a descrivere come loro -ognuno di loro- scrivono poesie.Dunque, se non lo avete ancora fatto, iniziate ora a scrivere poesie!

Questo libriccino intende essere una sorta di percorso auto antologico, per presentare in modo breve il lungo apprendistato dilettantesco del mio scrivere in versi. I brani selezionati sono tratti da diverse sillogi, poi raccolte nei volumi ""Juvenihilia"", ""Le Nascoste Cose"" e ""LÕarco e la lira"". LÕunica ragion dÕessere di questo libello quella di presentare in modo sintetico il mio confronto con la parola in versi, e tracciare qualche punto di contatto tra brani che coprono un lungo lasso di tempo (dal 2000 al 2015). Se qualcuno dovesse trovarselo tra le mani, poche raccomandazioni: non prendete i versi troppo sul serio, abbiate poche aspettative e leggete con clemenza.

L'origami rappresenta il ciclo di rinascita della cultura buddista e allo stesso tempo è semplicemente un foglio di carta piegato con sapiente cura. È il nulla che diventa tutto e il tutto che diventa nulla. Ogni poesia mi sembra un Origami, un qualcosa che probabilmente vale solo come un semplice pezzo di carta, ma che in realtà nasconde dentro di sé un significato profondo che qualcuno mi ha fatto trovare dentro le pieghe della mia anima. Scrivendo questi versi ho avuto l'impressione di liberarmene per sempre, per poi rendermi conto che, invece, tornavano sempre a toccare gli spiriti nascosti nel mio cuore». È così che Enrico Papalia, alla sua prima pubblicazione, affronta la materia poetica. Il tema principale, quello della felicità e della sua precarietà, porta il poeta a interrogarsi su questa paradossale condizione esistenziale dell'uomo moderno, privo di ogni valore emotivo e morale: «La mia poesia non sta tanto nelle parole in sé, ma nell'emozione che queste suscitano a fine lettura; spesso concludo i miei versi con un tono epico-sentenziale proprio per questo motivo: aprire l'anima all'attimo di felicità che ogni tanto la vita ci concede. Quando dico che la felicità non esiste, in un certo senso, né affermo maggiormente l'esistenza. Vivendo, cosa che per molto tempo ho dimenticato di fare, ho capito quanto la gioia nasca non tanto nel momento in cui si produce, ma solo successivamente, nel ricordo di quell'istante. La felicità non esiste proprio perché quando ne diventiamo consapevoli questa non è già più tale. L'unica soluzione che ho pensato potesse opporsi a questa inevitabile condizione è stata scrivere in versi la memoria di quegli attimi, per permettere all'anima di rivivere il senso, e alle sue fibre il solletico, di quella esperienza». Papalia ha semplicemente voluto raccontare cosa prova l'anima umana di fronte a quel terribile enigma che è l'amore, enigma tanto banale quanto difficile da raccontare. Questi versi hanno la volontà di provarci, attraverso l'innovazione della tradizione, da Dante a Montale, con la profonda leggerezza e con la voglia di trasmettere un fremito all'anima di ogni lettore.
