La formation en santé et sécurité au travail revient sur le devant de la scène. Ce livre rédigé par un collectif international et interdisciplinaire expose les multiples facettes du projet d'une formation pour les acteurs des milieux de travail et ses évolutions depuis une cinquantaine d'années dans plusieurs pays : en Europe, au Québec et en Amérique latine. Les principes et les pratiques de cette « formation à/par l'analyse critique du travail, pour/par l'action » fondent un processus formatif réciproque (entre « formateurs » et « formés ») visant le partage des savoirs et la construction conjointe de connaissances utiles aux changements du travail. Les questions de santé au travail posent de manière aiguë la question de la mobilisation des savoirs des collectifs de travail. Quel que soit le problème que l’on cherche à résoudre, et quelle que soit la période de l’histoire que l’on interroge, l’on ne peut qu’être frappé par le retard souvent tragique entre ce que les connaissances techniques et scientifiques permettraient de faire et l’état réel de la prévention dans les entreprises. Les pratiques de santé au travail peuvent être dès lors appréhendées comme l’enjeu d’un partage des savoirs dans des conditions qui remettent en cause l’habituelle division du travail entre des concepteurs et des exécutants. A ce titre, la formation revêt une importance essentielle. Elle est une activité bidirectionnelle où les rôles de "formateurs" et de "formés" sont loin d’être immuables et réservent bien souvent des surprises. Les éducateurs ont probablement autant à apprendre que les travailleurs qui sont formés. La formation devient aussi un outil de validation des connaissances et un exercice de démocratie qui renverse les représentations habituelles du travail. L’intérêt de ce recueil est de parcourir une période passionnante qui s’ouvre au cours du dernier tiers du XXe siècle mais dont les premiers ferments apparaissent aux lendemains de la deuxième guerre mondiale. Les contributions montrent la richesse de ces expériences que ce soit en France, en Italie, en Belgique, au Québec ou en Amérique latine. This book generates a comprehensive account of ways in which practice-based learning has been conceptualized in the Francophone context. Learning for occupations, and the educational and practice-based experiences supporting it are the subject of increased interest and attention globally. Governments, professional bodies, workplaces and workers are now looking for experiences that support the initial and ongoing development of occupational capacities. Consequently, more attention is being given to workplaces as sites for this learning. This focus on learning through work has long been emphasised in the Francophone world, which has developed distinct traditions and conceptions of associations between work and learning. These include ergonomics and professional didactics. Yet, whilst being accepted and of long standing in the Francophone world, these conceptions and traditions, and the practices supporting them are little known about or understood in the Anglophone world, which is the dominant medium for scientific and educational discussion. This book addresses this problem through drawing on accounts from France, Switzerland and Canada that make accessible and elaborate these traditions, conceptions and practices through examples of their applications to occupationally related learning. These accounts offer variations and culturally-specific developments of these traditions, but collectively emphasize a preoccupation with how both work and learning need to be understood through situated considerations of persons enacting their work practice. In this way, they offer noteworthy and worthwhile contributions to contemporary global considerations of learning through work.
